I miss my saturdays with my friends. I would get all my jobs done first thing of a morning and then as soon as my mum paid me then I would meet up with my friends and we would catch a bus and go shopping or ice skating. We would be gone all day and we would always go to the chippy for dinner. We were always laughing and would often get ourselves into some kind of mischief or other, we were always caught out though and then would be in big trouble when we got home!

That sounds really lovely, I do not think you can get left over cakes much now cheap can you? I know somerfield reduce theirs, but they are still quite costly! You have lots of lovely memories.

I do, I do...lol I love thinking about the way things used to be. Some things were better then and some now. One of my fondest memories is walking home from school and stopping at the penny candy store. On the way to school we would scour the sidewalks and edge of the road for coins. Any parking lot on the way to school was searched too. It never failed we always found at least 3 or 4 pennies. Sometimes we would find silver coins and even a twenty dollar bill. We brought that home to mom though.. lol If we didn't find any coins on the way to school we would just save our .03 we were given for milk money.... Irene's was the name of it...oh I can still smell all the candy as I type this....'sigh'
Blessed be, Mari

A lovely story Mari...we used to go to the church when there was a wedding..and as the bride and groom came out of the church..all of us..children..used to block their path...they then had to throw coins at us so that we would let them past!!!...it mayhave only been pennies, but those pennies were real treasure!!!...I still look down as i walk along!!...maybe its just a habit!..but if i see a penny ..i will always pick it up...hubby has always said that if you walk past a penny you will have bad luck!!!...he collects these `lucky` pennies in a jar!!!
I used to really love school milk...it came in littl bottles...and when the weather was really cold..the teacher used to put the milk crate beside the stove ...then at break time the milk was warmmm...and it was always so creamy....that taste stays with you...as the smell of your candy does!!!

Wow I never heard of the wedding thing...lol That must have been fun. I used to walk to church with my neighbors and if we couldn't get money from our parents for and Icee Slush drink after church, we would save the dime we had for the collection and use that... That is until we got caught one day when it started to rain and my step father appeared in the car to drive us home...lol

Hello dear ruby. It is the same here with me. I find that wandering down memory lane helps us recall those old days, either wonderful, happy and sad days. Yeah, I have also found that so many things have already been changed since we were kids. The world keeps changing day by day, year by year. It is hard to stay and live in the past. Past memories as well as latest memories will never be forgotten so long as we think about them and wander down our memory lane to the days when we can recall such...
