I am a HP born into the faith by both parents. I had a coven for awhile but it made too many demands on my busy world unfortunately...but being a solitaire offers so many benefits to my time but to the choices that I want to do. What about the rest of you?

I've never been a member of a Coven and actually have no desire to be for various reasons....Mainly because I work best on my own AND my personal path wouldnt work for others since its MY personal path and like nobody elses if that makes sense..

I'm a solitary. I think I could work well with a few other people, just not an entire group of people. I find in covens there tends to be a power struggle and the groups end up splitting and then it just creates a bigger problem. Being with others of like mind can be nice, but sometimes I like to be alone because I can work on my own time and focus more when I am working by myself.

I tend to go back and forth, for a few different reasons. I first learned from my great-grandmother, and while she had friends she practiced with at times, they weren't a formal coven. That worked out well because they didn't live close to each other and often would just wind up meeting up at various festivals. I started getting involved in various covens when I was still fairly young, but they don't often work out for me. Part of it is that I'm a Celtic Reconstructionist, and while I enjoy working with people from other paths, I don't like being the odd one out where everyone else is Wiccan, which seems to happen to me a lot. I love the types of coven where I had a kitchen witch, a Wiccan, a Hellenic Recon, an Asatru, a Ceremonial, some eclectics, whatever... that's a lot of fun. I also love straight-up Celtic covens, but I haven't had the luck to find many of those. I had a great one going for a while as a teenager, but one of the older members decided she should lead because of her age even though she'd read a total of one book about paganism and had no hands-on experience... and it didn't work out. I wouldn't exactly call myself solitary now, but I'm a bit of a floater. I am involved with a Unitarian Universalist congregation (which welcomes all religions) and the other pagans there and I practice together sometimes. There are a few various pagan groups in my area I've been known to work with, and I get called on sometimes by fellow parents to understand this "pagan stuff" their kids are interested in. So I wind up as a sort of add-on a lot, and the other day a pagan lady in my area referred to me as a "community elder" even though she's twice my age. It was kinda funny.

I'm in a hereditary Tradition, that doesn't function by Covens at all. you're taught what to do and left to do it, forming groups only when necessary. I've no desire to work in a Coven, and I'm no diamond ring either.
