IN God We Trust...

I was just posting in a thread regarding the word "God" and it struck this thought up in me....Ppl get bent out of shape over the whole "In God We Trust" issue and in alot of ways I can understand why..I mean its basically denying all other religions outside Christianity the same respect..and I disagree with the whole Christianity cornering the market so to speak....What I wonder though is why nobody thinks that instead of "In GOD We Trust" it should be "IN OURSELVES WE TRUST" or somethign along those lines....Ultimately what our countries become is SOLELY UP TO US..So why lay it at ANY higher powers feet/doorstep so to speak....why put the trust in some "maybe" being when really it should be with US... Why is it the masses have SUCH LITTLE FAITH in THEMSELVES and put it all on some higher power? Any thoughts?
