Terrorists alive and well - Are they going to succeed eventually?

Another bunch of accused men are going on trial in the UK. British prosecutors laid out charges on Thursday against 8 men. Prosecutors said that the suspects had planned to inflict heavy casualties "in the name of Islam" by igniting liquid explosives as planes flew from London to the United States and Canada. http://www.newstin.com/sim/us/51119671/en-010-001619167 Once again these people have been foiled. Passengers can no longer bring liquids aboard a plane as a result of this fiendish plot. How long will it be before they think of something else and it will not be discovered in time and thousands of innocent people will die? Do you think we are well equipped after 9/11 to discover these plots in time?

I think the fact that they failed and were caught is quite reassuring. It means anti-terror precautions are effectively stopping these terrible crimes. I remember when it happened, no details were released at the time but extra security precautions became necessary. Air passengers were very understanding about the delays caused because they knew there was good reason for it. I live near a big commercial shipping port which has now installed equipment to check every container arriving or leaving the country. It will prevent illegal nuclear substances being transported by terrorist groups. The best way to prevent these attacks is to maintain good security measures against any possible threat.

You are so right, good security measures are needed to foil these plots. I just wonder if eventually they get a lucky break and bloodshed ensues. As a passenger I would be quite willing to undergo any reasonable scrutiny. I don't want to be blown out of the air. There must be many alerts that we don't know anything about. Last year I was flying from Frankfurt to Toronto. We had to go through security twice. On the second check they took away my shoes and it was a while before they brought them back. There must have been some metal in the heels of my shoes.LOL I am a 69 year old lady and not a threat, but I did not complain and was grateful to return home safely.

the thing is it is hard to out think a criminal mind, but we just have to keep trying.
