Ok so I have just gotten back from seeing Nims Island. I enjoyed this movie. It really is good. It was a nice family film too. Which means I got 2 treats for1. I got to go to a movie I liked. And it was appropriate for my daughter. Jodie Foster was fantastic. How many A-list stars you know would allow themselves to be run into a tree? I laughed. I smiled. I don't want to say much more, but if you want to see lizards fly this is for you.

We watched it last night! What a great movie for the entire family! Had a little bit of everything in it! Do you think they are going to make a part 2? Jodie Foster did an awesome job!!!!

I took my kids to see it yesterday afternoon. We loved it! At one point, my daughter said, "Nim must be MacGyver's daughter!" It was great to see Jodie Foster, who as a child was the cute tough kid solving a problem for a helpless adult during her Disney days, became the helpless adult who was rescued but the cute tough kid. It looked like it must have been a movie that was fun to make because all of the actors seemed to have a certain spark about them.

It is hard to express appreciation for a movie without some spoilers, of course. Jodie Foster's role in this movie is different from what I expected when I saw the preview. I can't say much more than this, except that you really have three different stories of overcoming personal trials by each of the main characters. The author, the scientist, and the girl each have -- essentially, their own story which runs alongside each of the other stories. I don't, however, know what really happened to the mom. The story we are given is from the child-like perspective of the daughter. But it does involve the ship, the Buccaneer, which also appears in the story. Well, I guess that's a small point.

I love this movie and they started showing it recently on hbo, its about a little girl and her father. The little girl keeps sending email to her favorite writer, and then her father goes out to sea and gets stranded. Then after the little girl sends the email to her favorite writer, the writer comes to the island and it turns out to be a woman but the little girl thought the writer was a man and the kid is disappointed, but they eventually becomes friends. Her father finally comes back and meets the woman and the three people live happily ever after all alone on an unknown island.

I cannot wait to see this movie. I love Jodie Foster. I love all the newer animated movies, so I know that this one will be no exception. I love all of the sound effect and how they match up to the movie. Right now, my current favorite is "Alvin and the Chipmunks". I cannot wait until "Nims Island" is out on DVD.
