I buy dvds quite a bit and I don't have a wide screen television. Sometimes I cannot find the dvd in a full screen version. I personally don't like wide screen even on wide screen televisions. What do you think? Do you like them? Do you think that they should always have a wide screen and a full screen version or do you think it is ok for them to have one version. I think they should have both at all times.

I think they should have both options available. We should be able to pick what we want. I don't like wide screen. I know some argue you "see more of the movie" but if the screen is too small I can't view it anyways so it doesn't matter. Also I have noticed on some of my DVDs that have both options that the "wide screen" does crop from the top and bottom. If you compare the same scenes on both they do. What really gets me is that films at one time were done in the ratio for Tvs. It wasn't until after the 1950's that they changed everything. They should have left it alone and kept it at the same ratio. That way we wouldn't be having these debates you know?

Yes I agree. Some of my dvd's have the option on the main menu to choose wide screen or full screen and I like that feature also. I think all dvd's should be made like that. That way you don't have to worry about buying certain ones and everyone gets to choose what they like.

To me that would be the easiest, having both available in one purchase. Either both on one side or make it so one side is wide screen and the other full screen. If not that at least sell both versions but there are some I can only find in wide screen, which really irritates me. I don't mind it when it's a small amount of black on top and bottom but some have such huge amounts and that bugs me. Ok rant over

I don't like them as much as full screen...and I don't really guess that i could tell you why that is or anything like that but I really dont...I think that they should give you that option wheater or not you want which version...by simply putting an option on all dvds that will allow you to watch it in both widescreen and full screen mode...I have saw this done before on dvds and I really like that feature...just my opinion... I think they should have both versions available. I've know people who don't like widescreen. I personally like only widescreen. I think it's the way the filmakers intended the movie to be seen. Fullscreen crops the image, so you miss some of the shot on the sides. But I still think they should have both versions so people can decide themselves.
