Camping, I hate it, I cannot get my head around the fact that people do this for fun. My hubby always goes on about it and what fun it is and a few people I know just love to go camping. I have been once, and once was definately enough for me!
So good or bad tell me your experiences about camping, do you love it or do you hate it?
Can you say anything to convince me that camping is fun enough for me to give it a go?
What is fun about it, and what sorts of things do you do to make it fun?
Please share any stories that you have!!!

I absolutely despise camping. Especially "dry camping"-which means there is no running water. I think everytime my parents made us go dry camping I got my damn period. Gross! I hate walking far to use the bathroom if they have them available. I also hate smelling like campfire.

Me too, when we go away, we go in a caravan on a campsite, I have to go gold! This is the reason that we only get to go away once a year for a week! Last time I went camping I was 14, this is going back some 20 years now, I started dreaming about sheep, I could hear them in my dream, only when I woke up I could still hear them. There were only 2 of them in the tent munching on all my goodies, you could hear my screams for miles.

Oh I love camping. I love the smell the sounds everything. Last time I went there was a bald eagle nest by our camp site and it was fun to just watch her. We go to a place called Boulder Lake and it has little campsite islands so you are on a little island all alone its so nice. I loved it unless you have a boat you aint getting onto our site.

I like to go camping if I have a camper to sleep in. I hate to sleep in a tent. I have to have running water. I have been on camping trips where we bathed in the river. Didn't like that much.
We would play horseshoes, ride ATV,swimming, sit around the camp fire admiring the stars in the sky.

No, tents are not fun, I agree. I can do caravans, with all mod cons, those great big huge ones that you can get. Thats what we are going in when we go away!! I can also do the admiring the stars in the sky, I love sitting and staring at the sky.

I never been camping! I'm not a big fan of bugs and the idea of sleeping outside with the animals kind of scares me so maybe I'm better off staying indoors ;)

See, that sounds really nice how you have just described it, but it is not what I associate camping with, I just remember bugs, bulls and sheep!! Oh and lots of mud and rain.

I use to love going camping when I was a teenager - hanging out with my school mates and doing all the fun activities that were planned.
We have never been camping as a family but would like to one day. My son loves the outdoors and I think I would be able to survive amongst the critters LOL I just wonder if my husband will survive without a laptop for a weekend LOL

No it is not my thing either, I hate it! I have told my hubby that it is a thing he will have to do with the kids if he wants but there is no way I can do it. xx

I have mixed emotions about camping. If I can stay in a cabin and cook meals in some sort of kitchen fine. But as for sleepingin bedrolls outside with bugs crawling all over me I say no thanks. That is just not my cup of tea. I do not like cooking over a campfire or washing dishes in a creek. I do love to go fishing and hiking and enjoy nature, but I do not like sleeping on the ground.

A cabin would not be too bad, I could cope with that. Bugs not, sleeping on the ground and all the rest of it, no!

O h Rose..not the dreaded tent...please anything but the tent!!...we had to go camping when we were children...we used to camp on the side of mount Snowdon...wales....well it always rained torrentially...and Dad had to get out in the night and dig a channel around our tent to act as a gulley to take the water away!...then i was always nervous, sleeoing in the tent made me even more nervous..so i needed to go to the loo more often!!..well the toilet was the bucket!!!..in the tent...so each time i needed a wee...i used to cringe as i had to ask to use the bucket!!!...The tent was large, one roomed..with a central pole...we slept with our feet facing in towards the pole...Mum used to get the primus going, and cook one pot meals on it!!!..a tin of stew mixed with beans and tinned potatoes etc..they were very keen and hardened campers!!!...I couldnt have cared less if the tent has been blown away in the wind!!!in fact that would have done me a favour!!..years later hubby decide he wanted a caravan...oh lolol i was thrilled..NOT....and everytime i went away in it ..takingthe kids i came back feeling more tired than i had when i had gone!!!!..im arfaid i like my home comforts too much!!...hence i dont wanna go camping noooo more!!!!!

Oh no not Mount Snowdon, I have been there a few times, mainly on school trips never have nice weather there do they!! Oh your holidays sounded like my worst nightmares, I too like my home comforts too much. We are going in a caravan in 7 weeks to the haven camp in blackpool but we are going in a gold caravan with shower, tv and all the luxuries of home!

Well a lot of younger people love it, my eldest son who is 16 camps out every summer when the weather is good and he loves it, I guess mums do tend to be a bit overprotective, especially of girls, my mum was too. I would never have been allowed to go camping without her. Not that I would have wanted too!

I like camping, but I grew up out in the woods so I'm used to roughing it, haha. I like being close to nature and seeing wild plants and animals, and even if the weather is bad or the campsite isn't that great, I manage to have fun because I always go with people I like spending time with no matter what. If things go bad we can at least joke about it.
There were a few times I didn't enjoy it though, like when I got sick with no running water nearby, or when the tent got surrounded by coyotes because we were the only group of people in the campground (they're normally scared away by all the noise humans make).
