New Jersey is wanting to do away with it Department of Agirculture. The farmer of New Jersey are up in arm. One farmer said that if they did this it would be the dealth of farming in New Jersey. This got me to think, if farmers cannot farm without a government agency, could business survive without the Department of Commerce. I think they could, this country has had farms and business before government agencies. So why do we have a Department of Agriculture anyway. Could we do without it, or would all farms just self-destruct.

I think a lot of them would self destruct, but there are growing numbers of small, back to the land, organic farmers who would welcome the opportunity to particpate in the market without government interference. It could be scary getting from here to there, but it would be good to have a natural market again.

yep, they'd self destruct. They're all used to being on welfare and don't want to give it up. That's exactly what the Dept. of Agriculture is, welfare for the farmers. Just as the Dept. of Commererce, is welfare for corporations.
