I just recently learned that a pyramid scheme is defined as any business model that relies on nothing but signing up new members to make a profit, without offering any product. That sounds to me like a lot of these make money online sites, where referrals are the only thing that actually pay. Have you ever been scammed by a similar scheme? Share your story with us here, so that we know how to protect ourselves in the future.

A pyramid scheme is originally called "ponzi scheme" named after the originator. You are right! there are no products but usually money is the only thing involved with recruitment. You pay and recruit people to join. They use the payment to pay the others who join. If nobody joins, that's the end of the scheme. I once was a victim of that and I learn my lessons well though in the hard way!

Thanks God, never been a victim of a pyramid scheme. Though honestly I appreciate the system, its an epitome of a perfect and effective teamwork! Thats only when everyday could really sustain and continue the chain...
