This story is so sad. I feel so bad for the family of this guy. I went to KFC today to get lunch. I noticed a donation box for a manager of a KFC in Ohio. Basically the man was shot and is paralized. His family is having to drive many many miles to be with him. He has 2 children who are both adopted and special needs chilren. This is just so terrible. Heres what I could find on the situation: http://www.vindy.com/news/2008/mar/28/police-hope-video-leads-to-arrest-of-two-who/ http://www.vindy.com/news/2008/mar/28/two-charged-in-staged-car-crash-case/ Police hope video leads to arrest of two who robbed, shot man YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO — Police are exploring new video evidence that may lead to the capture of two people wanted for robbing and shooting the manager of a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. Joseph Kaluza 42, of Youngstown, a manager at the KFC restaurant on South Avenue, was traveling south on South Avenue about 10 a.m. Monday when a blue-gray Saturn cut him off and caused an accident, said police Capt. Ken Centorame, chief of detectives. Kaluza called 911 and then lent his cell phone to the female driver of the Saturn. A man then shot Kaluza in the right side of the head and neck. The shooter pushed Kaluza’s car a short distance into a driveway on Hilton Avenue and demanded money. Kaluza told the man the money was in the console of the car. The man took about $300. Kaluza was heading to a bank to deposit the money. Centorame said police believe the male and female duo knew Kaluza would be making the deposit and staged the accident with plans to rob him. There is one thing, however, the pair did not count on — video footage of the crime. So they shot and robbed this man for 300$!!!??? Just dosent seem right to me! What on earth were they thinking? They should have went and robbed the back instead at least they would have gotten more. Now this poor man is paralized for life because of 300$! It sickens me. Heres one good thing though they did catch the people who did it. Heres the story: YOUNGSTOWN — A database of Saturn vehicles led police to Hattie Gilbert, and she confessed to staging a car crash and named an accomplice who shot and robbed a KFC restaurant manager, police said. Taran D. Helms, 22, of West Hylda Avenue was arrested today at a Salt Springs Road residence by the FBI/Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force. He is charged with attempted aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and felonious assault, said Lt. Mark Milstead. Gilbert, 20, of East Judson Avenue is charged with attempted aggravated murder and aggravated robbery. She was arrested at her home around 9 a.m. today after detectives found the Saturn parked next door behind a vacant house. The victim, Joseph Kaluza, 42, of Youngstown was shot in the neck. His sister said he is paralyzed from the neck down and remains at a Cleveland hospital. The more I read the madder I get! Stupid people! What is this world coming to where a man is shot for 300$?? So I ask you please say a prayer for the family and the victim. ~May The Kisses Of An Angel Cover And Protect You Always~ Copper

They were stupid to do that to him, never even thought they would be caught on tape. Poor guy, I mean now his life has changed dramatically and it saddens me. This was a sick, a wreckless act they concocted. How dare they! Over 300 dollars? That's crazy, but I'm happy they got caught.

it just shows how stupid and despreate people are, you willing to hurt or even take someone's life for money that 1) isn't yours 2) you get a dam job and earn it. i hear alot of stories that happen just like and even here in nyc were i live. it's the most saddest thing to hear. these people are working trying to make a living to support thier own family and pay thier own bills, and these idots think its okay to just take away from them. you just aren't safe anywhere anymore. if thay haven't caught him or them i hope they do. and i hope they lock him or them up for a long time to come.
