Ok most parents know that even if you pick up the toys there is always a stray that you end up stepping on. I had this happen a few months ago and Ill tell you what IT SUCKS! I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I didnt turn on any lights as my bathroom is only a few steps away. Well one of those steps landed me right on a lego. Not the little ones the big duplo kind. Yep well I screamed a little. I got to the bathroom and turned on the light to see the damage and I had 2 huge holes in my foot. Looked like a really big vampire bit me. LOL! The skin hadnt completly come off and it wasnt bleeding to bad but it was deep. I probably should have gone for stitches but it was 3 in the morning and I didnt want to get the kids out of bed to take them to the hospital. I put some ointment on it and wrapped it up. I had a very hard time walking for the next few days as it was on the top part of my foot right below my toes. OUCH!! I took care of it for 2 weeks and it healed up nicely thank god. If you look real hard you can see the circles from it. A couple days later I showed the kids what had happened and told them we have to make sure every toy is picked up from now on. That way this dosent happen again. Tell you what they understood and now all the toys are picked up every night..even the strays. LOL! Have you ever steped on a toy before? What kind and how bad was it? Here is a picture of a duplo next to a regular lego. You can see there is quite a size diffrence. ~May The Kisses Of An Angel Cover And Protect You Always~ Copper

Copperkitten, legos are the very worst! Infact I do not even buy my grand kids legos at all. I have stepped on them to many times when my boys were younger. Ouch I feel for ya.

HOnestly, I never had that happen. My kids were great at picking up their toys. Now, my 2 grand daughters 2 and 8 are good to. I trained them well! Now,t his is just at my house. Both their parents (my kids) constantly complain about this at their house, and I don't have hte problem. I tell them to pick up and they do! But my little secret is to have something there for them to put the toys away in! Something easy and accessible that will make the picking up part fast for them. Boxes, totes, plastic things... if they can just pick them up off the floor and put them in a box, they are more likely to pick up without being told or complaining, that if they have to be real neat and organized and specific about how they do it. LIncoln logs, Legos, those nice, cute little buckets they come in are nice, but get a box with a lid (those that reams of paper come in are the best! Sturdy and stack perefctly) then just pick, drop, close and move on! But your way of showing the damage works well too!

Oh I really feel for you! When my kids were little I was always stepping on or over toys or pieces of toys. And this way after I had them pick them up! I even went to the extreme of throwing all the toys in a pile and making the kids all pick them up and put them away. It never works. Now that they have their own kids, I feel some vindication since they are now having the same problems. Good luck and try to stay calm. Calm???
