What's your Favourite Household Chore? (Do you have one?!)

I asked yesterday which was the household chore that you really hated, and it seems that it's something people really want to rant about! Most hates tasks seem to be cleaning the bathroom and ironing but there's allot of people out on the bed! So, now I want to know what your FAVOURITE household chore is? Now I know that none of us really like housework all that much, but there's got to be something that you don't mind doing as much as the rest. Personally, I don't mind doing the laundry. There's something satisfting about a basket full of clean clothes, all dried on the line & smelling of the outdoors, even though I know they'll all be dirty again tomorrow .... How about you?

cleaning the house'' but i cannot say that it is my favorite chore.. I have no choice but to do it, I really can't stand to live in a dirty messy environment.. and I found dirty place very stressful, especially when I got home and seeing your house full of mess.. aaaargh! that's totally stressful for me...

I totally get you, me I just tell my bf "because its not good 'Shui'" (as in Feng Shui) and he'll help to pick stuff up or in doing some chore. While Im not a big guru on Feng Shui I do know that order and little clutter is what makes me the most productive.

It's anot a big thing for me, but I guess there's a point where it gets to me. And when you can't find something then that is a problem.

I would take a beating if it would get me out of teh laundry.I hate laundry so much that it makes me sick to my stomach when I know i have a few loads to do.My self i guess my favorite household chore would be yard work.(Hope that chore counts!!!)I love mowing the yard so much.I can't stand my grass to look messy so i keep it mowed.Of course my husband loves the fact that I love to mow so he doesn't half to help me that much.lol

I don't think I've mowed a lawn in my entire life, but I do enjoy gardening. If it's something you have to do to keep your place looking neat, then it counts as a chore though!

My favorite household chore is washing the dishes. I love to see them get clean and no I don't have a dishwasher other than my hands. I love to sink my hands into the sudsy water and watch as I wash the dishes clean. It makes me feel good seeing that happen. I always use the dish soap that has fragrance to it. I like the smell of the dish soap as I wash the dishes. When the dishes are done and this includes pots and pans I feel good.

If it makes you feel good then that's cool. There's a sense of satisfaction in a job well done.

As a rule, I like keeping house, but find it strenuous to do it along with the other bread-winning chores. My favorite is dish washing. No, I don't have a dish washer, but with a nice big scotchbrite(scrubber) and a bar of vim, I can get any number of dishes washed in no time, and I really love to see them sparkling clean after that. Cheers!

I read an article once about the calories that you burn doing housework. It's a bit of a motivator I suppose, but not enough to make me enjoy it!

My favorite household chore is washing the dishes. Here in the Philippines, most houses don't have dishwashers, and we do wash the dishes in the traditional way - using the sink and tap water. I love it because they say that after eating a meal, we should stand for about 15 minutes before sitting down again, and washing a dishes is a sure way to impose standing up.

I don't like doing household chores. I like to cook, but I hate the cleaning up. Cooking isn't a chore but it is a necessity. If I have to pick one, it would be washing windows outside. At least I am out in the fresh air and listening to all the birds singing.

I'm not sure I agree with you that cooking isn't a chore. When I *have* to do it, it certainly *feels* like one!

The only household chore I really hate doing is the laundry. So I do all of the house work and my daughter does all the laundry. She is 25 years old and we just moved in together two months ago, after I left my husband. So it works out good that she doesn't mind doing the laundry and since I don't mind doing the rest, including the cooking, we work it out good. We also clean houses for a living, together, so that is why she hates doing chores at home.

That works out really well for you both. a team effort! I think I'm more like your daughter, in that laundry doesn't bother me. I don't like ironing it though.

I love sliding into a bed with clean sheets on. But i just hate hate hate putting them there! i've no problem with stripping the bed or washing the bedclothes, but putting them on is just a horrible job. I need someone to come around and do it for me!

Well in actual fact Moo..im not going to conform to the norm here...but my situation is maybe a little different... When the kids were home the housework used to be a full time job!!...though they were good at doing their own jobs. But now they have long since flown the nest...there is just two of us..and the hairy little dog!!...and it doesnt take too long to put things stright again!! Like you i dont mind the laudry too much...we dont have mases..and I love the smell of the ironed pile of clothes..... I love just being able to it down after tea and think that thats my lot!!!!...no packed luches etc to think about....oh those packed lunches were such a bind.... Ok...so just for your statistics..I will say the ironing!!

Providing the bag is taken out as soon as it's full, then I don't mind doing that either. What bugs me is when the bag is obviously full but people start balancing stuff on tip rather than empty it.

My favourite household chore is changing bedsheet because I like the feel when sleeping on the soft and clean bedsheet. The household chore that I hate is washing my husband working clothes especially pants because he like to wear cargo pants and he is working at construction site. Normally I will soak his clothes first, then I will scrub his clothes once before put it into washing machine.

I'm with you. If I had to pick my favorite it would have to be the laundry. I never really mind doing that. You at least know the clothes will be clean and you won't be stuck looking for something to wear because everything is dirty.

Sometimes another pile builds up by the machine whilst I'm running it, but I don't even mind that. Just so long as I don't have to iron it. I can't abide ironing.

I like sweeping the floor. I do not like grit on my feet and I even do not mind vacuuming because it makes the carpet look so nice, and I do love the look of a nice clean floor. We have a white linoleum in the kitchen and the marks really show. I got a new mop and it is amazing how that you can almost see your face reflected on the floor nowadays. In fact, I will always sweep the floor before I go to bed because I want to wake up to a clean looking kitchen, the floor part anyway.

I used to really enjoy doing housework, GreenMoo, but not so much now that I've gotten older. The energy just isn't there for me any longer. My favorite chore has always been the dishes. I really enjoy doing the dishes by hand. Even now that I live alone I never allow my dishes to pile up in the sink. I never go to bed at night without cleaning my kitchen.

Going to bed with a clean kitchen is always a good practice. If something is nice you're more likely to keep it nice, and getting up to a messy kitchen is a grim way to start the day.

This is a very funny discussion. I have to think it over so that I can figure out my answer I think my favorite household chore is cooking. I like cooking and it's also my interest. I enjoy looking at my family eating my creative dishes. I am very pleased to it.

Cooking is very satisfying if you are one of the people who enjoy it, particularly if your family are appreciative.

LOL. Even if I don’t count these things as favorite chores … I don’t mind doing the dishes washing and the laundry. But I hate cleaning the bathroom and some ‘fearful’ places within the house too. :P
