I am not sure what kinds of stuff you like to write about. But if you like to write articles then you should try Associated Content. They will pay you for most articles you write. Like reviews, news stories, health issues, etc. The only things I believe they don't pay for are poetry, fiction, and autobiographies. You might want to try that out first.

There are two great reliable sites that pay for writing articles and online, even stories and poetry. One is Associated Content:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/join.html?refer=15512content
Associated Content also accepts video and audio.
The other is Helium, which is by email invite. So, if you'd like to add me as a friend, then I will be able to email you an invitation to join.
There are many software programs out there for budding writers. You just need to search, because it really depends on what genre you wish to write.

Microsoft Office Suite is possible the best writing tool I own. With it you get a notebook, word processor, excel, power point, and whatever else you need pretty much, just depends on how much you are willing to pay. Its great to organize your thoughts and ideas and keep little notes to yourself in OneNote, then you can transfer the data into any of the other programs. With the word processor you can keep track of your resources, create a bibliography, add a tale of contents, and insert citations. It also has a built in dictionary and thesaurus that are linked to the web, so you can research through many databases online. And has an editing tool that I can no longer live without. You can go through your piece and track the changes you make, without loosing the original work. So if you go back later and don't like the changes you can revert to the original way you wrote it. I paid around $140 for the office student package, but there are many combos to choose from.
