How do you make more time?

People today are always complaining that they don't have enough time to do everything they want to, and that the majority of their time is taken up by doing things they do not want to do. Is this true? I think that people can find more time to do the things they want to do. Psycologically people think they have no spare time when they actually do. I know I think I have no spare time - when I am actually using spare time thinking that I have spare time (if that makes any sense!). Has anyone got any practical ways to save time? I read yesterday that people check their email/mobile phone messages too often.

Hello, Gle007! People are always complaining about the lack of time. They blame the company, they blame their boss, they blame the world for being so fast. What they don't know is that THEY are wrong. You can have fun anywhere you go, as long as you have an optimistic mind. You can have fun at work, on the bus, on the car, on the plane, on your way to home, on your way to work... It only depends on you. Also, time there is. Of course, sometimes it is too short... Like, only one hour to do all you want. But you can always take the weekends off for you. You should be always trying to find a day for yourself, at least once in the week. A day in which you can do everything you want. Otherwise, you'll get stressed, and you'll eventually become mad. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I definitely agree with you !Time is always there. The thing is in what way we spend it .If we think that one thing is worth our huge efforts and energy, then we do it whole-heartedly,regardless of time. And you also mentioned the work-off plan, I have also thought about that ,really. If one day, I leave school and go to work, I will keep one principle, that is , however tense and fast the working atmosphere is, I would always set aside some personal time from work, for if one is always in this kind of condition ,we will be crazy and maybe have possibility to die of depression.Time, then, will abosolutely fade before precious health. Good day!

Life is great or bad. It just depend on how do we want to live it. Are we going to live it to survive only, or enjoy it to the maximum? Thanks, have a nice day as well.

i think the main key is to able to balance all the acts in life. its true that the thinking that we do not have time, ruins the time we actually have.so it always planning in better way.

I always feel that I don't have enough time.I hope is 36 hours in a day.I want to learn and fufill lots of things. But time flies!I save time possible as I can by doing several things at the same time.I aways want to do more things in certain time. When I was a stendent,I did doodles on my exercise book while I was chatting with my classmates. That's weird, I felt like I need to do something with my available hands. So when we were done chatting,my exercise book was done too.

reduce time that you spend on tv,sleep, complaint and so on. don't hesitate to do whatever we want to do.More quicker we think, more time we will get.

i actually try to make more time by multi-tasking... so i do more than one thing at one time... for example, i wash my laundry and while i am waiting for it to finish, i prepare the meal... or while waiting for something to cook in the stove, i cut the ingredients that i need to cook another meal... and so on... i have very limited time as i am working full-time... so is my hubby... so i really have to try to use and manage my time very efficiently...

you are both correct and incorrect. Whether a person has spare time or not depends on that person’s choice of work and priorities. If I can explain this by citing me as an example: I am a working woman with a kid at home. Now it was a choice on both my hubby’s & my part that I would have to work. (the ‘why’ part is a different story). Now since I work and my son goes to school early morning, I get up at dawn, prepare him for school and prepare the cooking for the day. Now again its my choice that I don’t eat frozen or ‘heat & eat’ packs or buy from take-aways. I leave for office at 10am and come home around 6:30 in the evening. Again I sit with my son and his studies and again its my choice that I don’t entrust his education to somebody else. Maybe when he is older and needs expert advice, but at 8yrs, I think I would be his best teacher. Well this goes on from 7pm till about 9:30 and then dinner and then bed by 11:30 or 12 at night. Now I have consciously made all these choices and my priorities have been fixed by me. so as you can see, I have little or no spare time, except on the weekends. But if I had chosen to stay at home, to employ people to come and do some of the housework or for someone to come and help my son with his homework, or ordered the pizza and spaghettis on most days for dinner, I would have had ample free time to chk mails and mobile (I don’t have one though). So basically how we decide to live our life dictates whether we would have free time or not. But not having free time is good in one way, it keeps the brain from being idle coz few of us are actually born with a golden spoon to have enough free time and enough money to enable us to party away our boredom.

I have been guilty of saying those very words myself, but the truth is, we all have enough time in the day. It is the choices that we make in our lives that make us feel like we don't have enough time. At least for most of us, that's how I think it works. Parents choose to sign their children up in too many activities, for example. We choose jobs that require us to work long hours because we WANT more money because we WANT more THINGS. We want to impress those around us with our "stuff" or with our income. Of course there are people who don't make these choices and they still don't seem to have enough time in the day. I would say the ones who don't have a choice in that matter, mostly, are the single moms. They probably have to use every minute of every day to earn money to feed their kids and then do laundry, clean etc. The rest of us, though, I think it is mostly a matter of really thinking about what is important in life. Great discussion.

I am one that often thinks that I do not have enough time to do everything I want and need to do. I work a job that has 12 hour shifts and when I'm not working I'm usually having to sleep so I can work again. On my days off I am so busy trying to get everything I need in order (bills, groceries, etc.) Sometimes it just feels like there is not enough hours in a day. However, I get a lot more accomplished on my days off than I realize, it is the little things, taking time out of your busy schedule to just relax, read a little, hang out with the ones you love. When I actually stop to look back on things and the ways I'm living my life I have to say that even though I don't have as much time as I think I need, I do have the extra time that it takes to make myself as well as others feel better.

I do not think I have enough time to do the things I want to do! I have 4 kids and a hubby and looking after their needs takes up a great percentage of the day, once they are all sorted out and by the time they go to bed I have little time to do the things I enjoy, I would say in total I perhaps get about 4 hours in an evening when I can do what I want, during this time I have work that I have to take care of online as I also run an online business, that can take about an hour to an hour and a half, I like to spend time on here, cross stitch, knit and other things so I have to juggle it all and try and do a bit of everything! If I got up at about 6am and went to bed at about 2am then I might have a couple more hours spare!

There are a lot of ways to save time. If something is taking too much time simply limit the time that you spend on it. Have a timer beside you and limit your time on the internet to 20 minutes or 10 minutes. Make sure to only check the internet once in the morning and once at night. Dont' be so worried if something is important on there, chances are that it can wait a few more hours. When you do get on the net make sure to limit the time spent on it. Time management skills are very hard to get but keep trying it will get better.
