Response for a discussion

I am new, and am trying to figure out how to respond to someone that answered my question. I only know how to place a question, or answer someone elses. But, not to do a discussion back and forth. Or is that a no no?

it's not a no no, in fact it encourages to have that back-n-forth conversation. it's a discussion, so anything (hopefully sensical) goes.
posts here, ideally, should be something that needs to be resolved, not something just to gain points/earnings. thus, it needs opinions/views to clarify an issue or just to invite more information. take it as a regular conversation, like talking to a friend :)
