Public Restrooms, toilet paper, and dirty seats

i am a guy and the only reason i will use a bathroom is if i have to do number one because i won't sit on a toilet seat that everyone else has sat on already(not trying to say that in a snobby way or anything but i just wont)so i don't usually do anyhting except go to the front of the restroom and do my business and then take a paper towel and turn on the sink with it and then leave it on for the next person and dry my hands... jhl930

I know it isn't the healthiest but, I have no balance whatsoever so, I sit on the seat. I will look on the seat and in the bowl before I enter it to make sure nothing is on it or in it. If there is, to the next one I go. One thing that sort of helps is that I usually go to the first stall. I pretty much always have but, I have read and heard several times that there was a study conducted that showed that people tend to go to the last stall or one of the middle to closer to the end stalls and usually skip the first one. So, the first stall tends to be the cleanest one. That is the one I go to first. Now, if I am in a place that is less kept up and filthier, I will crouch and hover but, I prefer not to as, like I said, I have no balance (an equallibrium problem) and I don't like to use the walls to hold myself up because, with a bunch of ladies crouching, I have no doubt that those walls are just as dirty as the seat itself. As for the TP, I either tear the first square or two off and drop it into the toilet or I make sure that that is not the section that I use to wipe with. So, I will tear an amount big enough to bundle it so that doesn't touch me. But, usually, I remember to tear that off and drop it. Especially if it is touching the floor. And, if I have to go, I will use a public restroom. I won't hold it. Even if it is #2. Sorry. But, #2 needs to leave and I won't hold it all day. That just isn't healthy. I will definitely do the hover in gas station bathrooms on road trips, or dirty areas like a baseball game where thousands of people will be through it throughout the day. Department stores tend to be a little cleaner so, depending on the smell of the bathroom, the look of the floor, the sink and then the stall, I will be more likely to sit.

I generally avoid using the public restroom....but I if I really need to....I line the toilet seat with toilet paper AND crouch over it. I even clean it once more after I am done. We usually use water to clean ourselves in India....and not toilet paper...so tearing off the first one isn't really necessary....but the water fittings can be dirty ...so I use a piece of toilet paper to hold it! It's all fine if I have to use a public toilet. I have it all worked out. What I hate is when the kids have to use it...I can't get them to crouch over the bowl:(

I try and hold out if at all possible untill I get home, or stop somewhere I know is a bit cleaner. But if you are stuck someplace like a flea market all day, and you can not wait until you get home, I opt for the squat over the toilet thingy. I also keep disposable baby wipes with me all of the time(i take care of grand kids) so that helps in that I can use them instead of shared TP. This is an age old conundrum for us ladies that can not just whip it out and stand. in fact if I have my grand daughter with me I will inevitably hold her hands so she does not touch anything and help her stand squat over the toilet. Quite a feat huh? LMAO

Well sweety I'm not out a lot and when I do get out and need to go to the toilet I have always been very lucky and am somewhere they are clean! I don't know what I would do otherwise to be honest! Apart from with the toilet roll - I always do that even at home! lol I honestly thought I was the only one who did that! xxx

I try not to sit on the seat either. I do art fairs and festivals during the summer and the porta potties can get really disgusting! Yuck! I carry a little pocket sized thing of kleenex and I use that it wipe and I also carry hand sanitizer! eeuuuhhhhhh......they can be so yucky!

Yuck I hate dirty restrooms. I do the same thing you do usually. The squats not fun but its better then sitting on the dirty sit by far.

Frnakly speaking i hate to use oublic restroom. i always try to get back home and use own toilet. its very yuck! if still i had to, i use toilet ppaer over the sheet.

Something I noticed the other day at Walmart.. usually I wont use a public restroom unless I really have to go. The seats were nasty. I dont know if they were splashed with dried water spots or if it was something else. But I cannot believe such a large company would have such a dirty horrible bathroom. I tried a crouch, I always rip off the first part of the toliet paper too. I wash my hands twice and kick open the door or wait till someone else comes in before I leave. Dirty nasty scary public bathrooms. I havent found one that was really nice in a long time.

I don't sit on the seat I squat. If I'm doing number two I will put a lot of toilet paper on the seat if they don't have those paper things before I sit. If they have those paper things I will put a couple of them down before I sit.

I try to avoid them at all costs... if it's an emergency i am not too worried about germs though, i carry lysol and hand sanitizer in my purse :) I've cleaned a many nasty bathrooms for various jobs so I think I'm a bit desensitized about them.

I do not use public bathrooms unless it is an emergency! I wait till I get home or to a close friend's house. If I have to use a public bathroom I do like yourself. Crouch and tear off pieces of toilet paper. I even put toilet paper on the seat if I could by the time!! Public bathrooms are just disgusting to me!

I only sit on my toilet when I defacate at home. Same stuff everywhere else. I use toilet paper to wipe off my the area where the stool came out after defacation. There are streaks of stool left on the sides of the bowl on the inside after defacation. I sanitize it using bleach, water, and certain soap. And wiping the bowl. I clean the toilet seat, too. I clean the outside, too. That is how I maintain my toilet, keeping it sanitized at all costs. Because after each flush after defacation, there are spots of stool. Stool is waste that passes out of my body and into the toilet. So at public places every rest area/rooms must be cleaned and sanitized.

I hate public toilets with a passion, and only use them when I HAVE to. I find crouching easy and have a pretty good aim LOL I tear off the first piece of paper, I also try not to touch aything once I've washed my hands. Horrible things to use, never done a number 2 anywhere apart from my own home. Hehehe

This dicussion has come up before and it is a good one..I have a condition called crohns disease so the bathroom is very important to me..I use every percaution in the world that is possible to use..I try NEVER to sit on the pot,i just crouch down mostly,but if i do have to use it for # 2,i use those toilet covers when possible,if they do not have them then i cover the seat with tolet paper..I never use the first sheet..it is also good to keep those wipes in your purse as to clean yourself afterward,they have them with anti=bacterial on them....I am wary of public bathrooms and most of the time they are very dirty,sometimes filthy....

I hover over the toilet and I also tear off the first pieces of paper too. My problem is I have some stomache trouble have to #2 so I put TP down on the seat and try to hurry.

well really I just use the toilet seat covers provided in most all public restrooms then sit down as I am too old and have too much arthritis to be crouching over anything and i think that in a way might led to missing the john too as for the paper unless I can see it is soiled I donot bother to tear anything off it . I just use it and get out of there. To me the door knobs are actually the germiest things you can find in public restrooms. This has been proved in studies.

i hate public restrooms aside from very disgusting things that i'm gonna see, there were also a long line of ladies using the restroom so i just wait till i get home

The way I use a public restroom is all depending on how the restroom looks. If it is very dirty I try using the sanitary toilet covers or in some cases I will squat above it.

I crouch over the toilets, even when I am drunk. You don't know who has sat the seat before you and I have good aim. I just use the first couple of sheets of toilet paper, but I think I put the first piece behind the second piece while wiping. If I need to go I go, but I can't physically go for a number two.
