Would you go on national television if a doctor mutilated you in a private spot?

This is something that happened in the 80's but it pops into my mind periodically. I knew the person who this happened to and she was called the class squeeze. Anyhow, she was married and fooled around on the husband which ultimately resulted in a divorce. She needed to have surgery to correct a female problem and the ex was able to get in the operating room and he sewed her private area shut.
Well, of course she sued and won-the amount was in excess of 50 million dollars. She got invited to go on national television to tell the story.
Now, would you go on television and let the world know that you had this happen? What if you were informed that if you did you could loose everything from the judgment? Would you be willing to sacrifice that kind of money for revenge?
