This morning in the bathroom i lost my balance and broke the mirror. The first think that pop in to my mind was "now i'm getting seven years of bad luck", all do i'm not a superstitioned kind of person. Do you believe in the superstition that breaking a mirror brings you seven years of bad luck and why?

I don't believe in "seven years of bad luck" I've broke plenty of mirrors in my lifetime and I've never experienced "bad luck" because of it. I think if you dwell on the bad luck and think everything bad is going to happen because you broke something you create the bad luck vibe yourself. Just my opinion.

Whenever I have broken a mirror, I have the most positive thoughts. I feel that all the bad luck that was to come to me is now gone with the broken mirror. Belive me, it is true. 7 years of bad luck. You got to be kidding. Broken mirrors means bad luck gone with the wind and the broken pieces. Relax dear.

Feel free to break lot of mirrors daily and live happy life without sacring about "Seven or any year of badluck". All is the game of mind power.

Mirrors are powerful metaphors. That's why they hold so much power over our minds and superstitions. Whenever I've broken a mirror I bury the pieces in a black bag, near a natural source of running water so that the water washes away any negativity.

no i dont believe, but it gives you bad luck if you might get hurt when you do not throw the broken glass. Only people makes that superstitious belief and people also knows how to handle their selves.

Not at all, when you really think about it,if you believe something bad is going to happen to you because, for instance you broke a mirror, then you will focus your energy on the bad side of life and see more of it than the good.Your beliefs influence your perspectives.I have broken many mirrors and have not had so much as 7 years of bad luck.I think it is just a superstition brought about to make people more careful around mirrors and keep from hurting themselves. You must also note that when mirrors fisrt came around, they were very expensive and breaking them would mean losing an investment-hence the superstition

The actual meaning of "seven years bad luck" goes back in history to when slaves and indentured servants were commonplace. Since mirrors were all hand crafted and extremely expensive, if they were to break one they would have to replace it or work off the cost of it. That's how the phrase came to be but I highly doubt that the owner or master would make them work seven years for it. It was probably a scare tactic to make sure that they handled the mirrors with care.

Im not that superstitious but am always interested in hearing stories!! I think if you dwell on the bad luck, you are then sending out bad/negative thoughts so therefore things feel bad or happen!!
