The aim of this discussion is to compare life now as we know it in 2006 to the elements in the book which seem to predict various aspects of our time. i.e.Big Brother

It seems to be heading towards the way Orwell pictured Big Brother. Governments are interfering in everyday life, telling us wha to eat etc.

Good point, I suppose that if food tastes nice and is good for you it is'nt much of a problem, and they havn't banned burgers yet! Smoking is one thing in 1984 that they still get away with, however over here we are fastly loosing our right unless we lock ourselves in at home. Will give up soon!
