It Is Not My Dog's Fault!

Recently we brought home a jack russell terrier that had been dumped out here near our house. Most of the time she is inside, but when nature calls of course we take her outside. She is currently in heat, and my male dog, who is very large, is following his instincts. She is showing that she wants a male and he is responding to it, like most dogs would. My husband put the jack in the yard, which is fenced in, and my dog climbed over the fence to get to her. Now he is threatening to shoot my dog, and I Am Furious! Of course this has started a fight between me and my husband, but I don't feel that I am in the wrong here. Now he won't talk to me, mainly because I called him a "no-hearted A**" for threating to shoot the dog. It's not his fault that WE brought a FEMALE home that is in heat. He's never been around a female in heat, and he's just doing what nature intended. Like I said before, she's provoking it by backing up to him, and clearly showing she is ready for a male. I'm so upset right now, my husband left (to where I don't know) but I don't feel like he should at all be threatening to shoot my dog. She has caused a lot of problems since she's been here, and honestly I think it's best to find a new home for her. She was dumped, someone didn't want her, and now MY dog is paying the price. Am I wrong for calling him what I did? I don't know what to do! I do know that I will NEVER EVER forgive my husband if my dog turns up "missing"!
