fish hooks and cat Garfield

Ok last night I was sitting here and something had to me to get up and shut off the coffee pot sense it was 12 midnight.. So I did and than my cat Garfield started making some noise and I noticed that she had fish string around her paw or at least that is what i thought.. I grab a hold of her to find out she had a fishhook in her paw.. I was feeling extreamly bad because she started meowing in pain.. Poor Garfield I thought to myself so I grabbed her and took her around with me to look for something to cut this hook and finally did but I guess I wasn't strong enough to snap it. So I had to go wake up the hubby to have him help me.. I knew there was no way I could get this out myself with her clawing me to death.. In which she really tried.. I had to hold her and her paws so that my husband could get this out, We must have tried at least 5 times until we got it out.. when we did I let her go and she ran so fast she didn't know what got her.. Is there a easier way to get fish hooks out of cats paws than to cut them does anyone know?

Wow...that's terrible. I hope there isn't alot of them around where she can get at them. I'm a quilter and I'm always very careful not to leave any straight pins or needles where she can accidently get at them. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

That's good to hear...I know our cat, Morgana, is always coming up with things and I have to wonder where they come from. I know them fish hooks hurt though b/c I've gotten them in my feet before. I'm glad to hear that your cat is allright though. Thank you for responding! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Poor little kitty..I don't know of any easier ways but I do remember being told not to pull it out due to the barb at the end...so once it is through, I guess you just snip it....If it doesn't go all the way through then maybe a vet would have to get it out..I hope she is doing better..
