What was the worst thing that a salesperson did to you? Mine happened several years ago. My shoe strap broke and I had to buy a new pair unless I wanted to go barefoot. So I went into one of the shops and asked the lady if I could try one on. Instead of asking me for my shoe size, she said "Are you gonna buy it? I will only let you try this pair if you are buying it." I was shocked at her response! That was the first time ever that a salesperson did that. Of course, I walked out and never came back to that shop. I also warned my friends about that salesperson. I wonder how many customers they lost. Up to now, she is still number one on my list of the worst people in sales.

Wow. How rude! I would have asked to speak to the manager in the same situation. If that was the manager, I would have been calling the regional manager to complain! I can't really think of something terrible that a salesperson has done to me because I really try to avoid salespeople like the plague unless I need something that I can not find or I can't reach myself. I couldn't imagine how many shoe sales shoe stores would lose if they made people buy every pair of shoes that people tried on. How ridiculous. The only bad experience that I can think of that I have had with a business was in an IHOP (a pancake house for those outside of the US). My husband and I went to eat there, so there were only 2 of us. We wait for about 30 minutes before the waitress even came to take our order. Then we waited another 45 minutes for our food. We still didn't have our drinks. When she finally did bring our food, we asked her, why didn't you bring our drinks before? She said, how many restaurants do you eat at that bring the drinks first. We were like...uh, all of them? Every restaurant I have ever eaten at brings your drink order before the food. The fact that she gave us attitude just made it worse. Guess how much of a tip she got? The food was also terrible, so we never ate there again.

That was just rude. I think I might have asked to speak to the manager about that one. I would have asked right in front of the salesperson if that is how they train their employees to treat customers. The worst that happened to me was that I was ignored altogether. I went to a high end boutique store looking for an outfit for a special occassion. I was a college student at the time, wearing jean shorts, a t-shirt and sandals. I knew the store well and that the salespersons all worked on commission. By ignoring me I knew they thought I wasn't worth the effort. I even deliberately made eye contact with the salesperson with a question mark on my face. She looked away, without even a word. I was furious!!! I was too angry that day, and I admit to feeling a little intimidated so I just left without a word. I did call later to speak with the manager about it.

OMG what a bad experience. This salesperson surely lacks enough knowledge on salesmanship and customer service. The owner must look into it or else they will loose all their cutomers. I've been working in a mall and retail stores for a number of years, it is always part of the SOP of the company to conduct regular briefings and peep talks to remind all sales personnel to abide with the correct procedure in entertaining customers and to treat all customers fairly regardless of their looks. Thanks that I didnt encounter a salesperson like her, if I did I would report her to the owner for a corresponding disiplinary actions.
