Hundreds of thousands of Americans are harmed every year by medication errors made at the hospital, but it's not just adults who face the brunt of the problem. A new study finds the issue is widespread among children. Remember Dennis Quaid and his twins..Has your child ever been the victim of a medication error?

No but it is a scarey the way things happen. Makes you wonder should we trust medicine.

Actually, I don't remember the Dennis Quaid problem. So, I'm going to have to research it. Ok, researched it. The twins were dosed with 1,000 times the normal dose of a blood thinner. Yes, a very spot-on example of the general finding by the study you mention. As pointed out in the articles I read, Dennis Quaid can get a take two if he makes a mistake while acting but medical professionals can't. A mistake on medicine to an adult can be dangerous enough, but a mistake in medicine given to a child or infant is particularly scary. Particularly scary because a child might not be able to describe their symptoms to doctors like a more verbal adult patient might. So far as I know, my daughter has never been the victim of a medication error, but how can I be completely sure?

Fortunately, I have never had this be an issue with my kids. I use one of those little syringe looking things to measure out my daughters medicine and my son is old enough to take pills now. I remember hearing about Dennis Quaid's twins. That would have been so scary.
