War in Congo and its horrible effects on women and children....

I have been hearing a lot about what is going on in the Congo lately, genocide and feminicide due to a 10-year-long civil war, millions of women being raped and then after they are raped by militia and others, abandoned by their husbands, left to raise their children who fall prey to those who want child soldiers... I am having a hard time understanding why the women are being raped and even more why love and marital loyalty would not prevent the husbands and parents of these women from casting them out and also why their children are left to fall prey to those who only wish to use them as pawns in this war.Does anyone have any ideas about this from any perspective?

Its completely horrific. I think that the violence and bloodshed is the penultimate problem, but one major issue I have with this whole event is the lack of concern from other people around the world. And its not just Congo... Kenya, Zimbabwe, Malawi and other countries are dealing with violence or other hideous calamities (famine). Baffling and completely inhumane.

yah...If war happen, women and children always be very ugly victim. i think every war are always destructive. war benefit is only for their leader, but people including women and children just receive the negative effects. i hate war,we must heat war and say "no way" to our leader if they instruct to war, otherwise if we ncann't parry from it

It is a good thing to say that we want peace to our leaders so we will have a better chance of getting it. To say that we hate war is not the same as saying that we love peace. When the love of peace is stronger than the hate of war, we will have peace.

i don't see why people do anything like this...i mean why do people have to have war in the first place...i don't think that it is right at all to rape women for any kind of reason...i mean its just not...and i don't see why they would do something like that if you want a war and your a guy...try fighting other guys instead of doing something to a woman who probably can't defend herself against you liek a guy could... jhl930

If I could abolish wars and violence in general, I would do it... Sounds like you would agree with me.
