Why are potato chips so addictive?

I know for a fact that most people who crunch down on some potato chips always reach out for some more! I do it and know I am not the only one. How about you? Why is it that this simple crunchy snack is so addictive? Is there an actual scientific reason... lol!!

oh yes I am so addicted its not funny. cannot stop til the bag is empty. maybe its the makers plot to keep us coming back for more. I think a lot of us women crave salty snacks for one thing. I do not know just what the scientific reason would be but wouldnt it be nice to say but I just cannot help it because of x law that says it is all in our genes. I do not mean jeans although if we eat enough potato chips it might well affect our jeans too.
