Social Network 'fatigue'?

I've been reading a lot lately about Social Network Fatigue.
Seems like giant Facebook has seen its number of monthly users drop for the first time, and that's according to the authoritive Neilsen Online analytics company.
400,000 less visitors went to the social ntworking site in January 2008 and that's a 5% drop compared to the previous month.
Seems like Facebook isn't the only one. Bebo experienced an 8% drop in UK users since October 2007, and the mighty all conquering MySpace lost 15% of its users in three months.
It's not likely that a global phenomenon including hundreds of millions of people is going to grind to a halt just yet. Indeed, AOL just paid $800 million to get its hands on Bebo in a buyout!
Could there be another reason these sites are seeing this drop in interest?
Maybe it's because sites like Mylot and Yuwie share the advertising revenue generated by its users WITH the users instead of funnelling it into the pockets of Rupert Murdoch and his ilk.
See a link to the paying sites on my profile page.

I think it has a lot to do with the increased awareness of cyber bullying and more parents might actually be policing what their kids are upto. if that is the case, then it is a very good start!
Sorry to the companies though, but they don't really protect the site users that much.
