Gas prices slip but could go to $4 a gal, but demand to fall http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080408/oil_prices.html Here seems the update. They say price fell on Tuesday. I broke my own rule and bought on Monday! (Tuesday and Wed are the least demanding days so prices are a few pennies lower, at least from what I have read and what I have personally documented in my area. Monday all are fueling back up from the weekend, Thur and Fri they are fueling up for the weekend and the weekends are just cause everyone is off work and going places. ) But it also says demand has dropped a bit and with the high prices this summer, many won't be traveling so demand will drop then.Hopefully that will help prices. The recent and expected drops tho, Just goes to show that we can conserve on our gas usage if we really want to ...or in this case need to. Diesel fuel is used to transport most of the world's food, industrial and consumer products, and is one of the reason food prices have risen so sharply this year. Here is Southern California is it $3.69 reg and $4.19 for diesel.

Since this discussion is 3 months old, I think your prediction was right. I live in Canada so we get charged per litre for our gas, but when figured out we are paying close to the $4 mark per gallon. From some of the discussions I have read since you posted this, people in the United States say they pay over $4 a gallon, now. So you were right. I think the price of gas has gotten out of hand and the governments should step in and put some control on the gas companies. They shouldn't be allowed to make so much profit off of us. The gas companies say they have to raise the price because of the demand. Well, if the demand is so high they are making more and more money, so why does the price have to go up? So they can make more?

IT is $4.67 a gal now. I thought it might fall, cause no one can afford the price for holiday traveling, but it hasn't. Just goes up daily. Yes, we can make more but the environmentalists won't let us.
