Yesterday I started a couple of small discussions. One about friends and one about ratings. Strangely, they are both still up. Anyway, I was bored and thinking deep thoughts and came up with these discussions as an exercise in social reactions. The results are now in: My friends discussion received many more replys than I anticipated. Everyone was truly wonderful and got into the spirit of it. Weirdly though, out of everyone who responded, only 4 people actually put in a friends request! I find that extremely interesting. It makes me wonder if we respond to discussions more 'off the cuff' than not and then go on to the next one, leaving the previous one 'out of sight, out of mind'. My other discussion was about challenging users to raise me out of the danger zone of turning red as it is my mylot goal to remain blue until you all are too. Well, pat yourselves on the back everyone. I am out of the danger zone and firmly blue. Special thanks go to my courtly, oh so appealing Frenchman. What really surprised me about the responses in this discussion was that hardly anyone tried to make me feel better in any syrupy way or told me to 'just get over it' or even offered excuses as to why it might be so. I was so gratified to see that most responders had such positive attitudes towards how they handled their own ratings and were more focused on plussing than minusing people no matter what the comment. My lovely Frenchman has posted about whether evolution had and was occurring here on mylot, and I can definitively report here that yes indeed it has and continues to. What a great testimonial to you all. Well done users. Well done indeed. You have met my challenge, surpassed my expectations and made me proud. I bow to you all.

Glad you're on the up and up. Unfortunately I got embroiled in a political discussion which I thought was of a mature intelligent nature. All I ended up with was allot of negative ratings and I lost my blue star which I'd had for a long time. I was of the opinion that I was in mature company but that was not the case in this instance. To be honest I'm a bit disappointed that it happened and am on the hunt for some plus people!

Oh I'm sure that my own blue will be red if I stick around long enough. And that's a shame, because I NEVER rate negative. If I'm that upset with someone and their language or attacks, I report them, but even then it takes a lot to push me that far. I've only had one really bad run in here, and we are now friends and that's the way it should be if you're an adult. Work it out, don't tantrum it out! lol So welcome to the plus side of mylot Tetchie and before long we'll have you blue again! LOL

Your nice blue star is well deserved. I think you have come up with some interesting results from your discussions. I read all my notifications of friends new discussions and I respond to the ones I find interesting, but mainly I jump into any discussion that looks good. I do often look at the profile of the person who starts a good discussion and then I may request them to become a friend, but without checking I'm not really sure who is or is not already on my friends list.

Well thank you. And yours must be well deserved to if your rating is 99, which it is! LOL I like the way you handle your choices. Very smart.

Glad you are a firm 10 now. It is great to have friends here on myLot, and amazing how many people respond to your discussions that aren't even on your friends list. Have a great day!

LOL. Even if they aren't on my friends list, anyone who responds to my discussions, I consider a friend well met. You have a great day too my friend.

I'm so happy that you've gotten your blue star so firmly cemented, darlin. If I have anything to do with it, it's going to stay that way. You deserve it, well and truly. I don't think I'll ever get a blue star, though, Spark, and that's ok, because I think that I'd have to stop being so smutty in order to get there, and I'm not going to stop being smutty. That would be like stopping breathing, or blinking my eyes or something, geez. In fact, I think it's time that I put out another smutty discussion, don't you? It's been a while now. I'll give it some thought. Time to get back down deep into the gutter. And you know, I was wondering how many friend requests you might get from that post and I'm kind of surprised that you didn't get more. (I read that other response here) I'd send you a friend request every day, if that's what it took.

Yes definitely we need another discussion from you where we can flirt our little hearts out. We have another good group for that, now that Lounge has left the building with his lovelies! LOL And I was truly surprised that more people didn't put in a friends request. That wasn't the point of the exercise, but it was a consequence that I thought would happen. The weird thing was, during the time that discussion went up and now I did receive over 20 friends requests (more in one 24 hour period than I ever have received before) but only 4 of them had posted on my discussion. Makes me wonder how many people will read and not respond, but will follow orders anyway! LOL

Shoot! Now I suppose I owe you 1/10th of a cent for your bow! If you haven't sent my check out yet...which I can only assume you haven't as I haven't seen it yet...just take it out of what you owe me! And, you don't have to pat me on the back! I already do enough of that on my own. I actually think I have caused myself great injury for all the patting I do! On the other hand, you may be saving me more injury so, PAT AWAY!
