I know some out there cant either afford, or just hasnt bought a dishwasher, but most homes that are on the market have dishwashers in them. Are you someone that just doesnt have a dishwasher, or have one but you just dont use it? I always use my dishwasher, i cant live without, i still hate dishes with the help of a machine, how do you feel about a dishwasher?

Well, we hand wash because our dish washer is broken. How sad is that. I don't like to do them, but my husband doesn't mind. So he mainly does dishes and I mainly do the laundry.

LOL, I did most of the stuff around here until i started babysitting, so now we share more of a load, but he wants to do the laundry (which is fine with me, i dont like the laundery) and the trash, everyday, and that be his chores, but that leaves me and his son with, dishes, ferret poo, living room, two bathrooms, and our room. When i pointed that out he said, but you dont have to do those everyday. Well the living room, and dishes have to be done everyday, so i dont know, maybe i should just make that chore list agian.

I'm a bad wife. LOL. My husband does a lot of the chores around here because I am so busy with my business and volunteering. Although, now that the kids are older, they help out as well - willingly or not :)

I think a dishwasher is an excellent a necessary appliance that each and every household should have. My family has always had one. There are eight people in my family, so we run at least two loads of dishes per day. I remember back a few months ago when our dishwasher broke down and actually started leaking water everywhere. We panicked because we would have to wash dishes by hand! The worst part was that my parents went away for a week and a half and left me with two of my younger sisters and my younger brother...and a few containers of disposable dishes. That didn't seem to do the trick, though. My brother was constantly eating (he's almost 21) and didn't mind using regular dishes rather than the convenient disposable items. Ugh! (LOL) So I ended up washing dishes by hand every night. I now have a deeper appreciation for dishwashers! Once we got our new dishwasher, it was so modern and powerful that it destroyed several of our plastic plates and cups. What a shame! We know better than to put them in the bottom of the dishwasher now as that's where the hot water is the strongest. I guess we didn't realize how nice our new dishwasher would be! We have to be very careful where we play certain items now because of how powerful it is (and how hot the water gets). I'm sure the water temperature is something we can change as far as the dishwasher is concerned. I'm just so glad we have one. It saves us a lot of extra work. With six kids, my mom would've never had time to do the dishes too. My fiance's grandparents still don't have a dishwasher (and never had one) because there's no room in their small kitchen. I know there are smaller dishwashers that are somewhat mobile with wheels on them and such, but his grandma is so used to washing dishes by hand that she doesn't seem to mind.

WE use mostly glass dishes so that wouldnt of been a problem for us. we have an older version that came with the apartment, i would make my faince get another one but not when were living in apartments. I hope that when we get a house it has a dishwasher b/c i would hate actually having to wash dishes.

I hope you get a house soon so you can get a new dishwasher! That's mostly because I know what a pain it can be to wash your dishes by hand. How annoying. (LOL) Thanks for your comment!

I had a dishwasher and frankly it makes me lazy, let me explain. I would load it and run it but all of the things that didn't fit would sit and sit and sit in the sink until I needed them then I would wash it, use it, and it would sit there dirty again. Without the dishwasher I generally do the dishes everyday so I don't get the build up. It's better for me not to have a dishwasher but that's just me. I can imagine it would be handy if my family was bigger but as of now it's just hubby and I and the baby so it's not bad for now.

Yea we do a load everyday, we have to, my rules are that if the dishwasher doesnt have clean dishes in it you rinse and load your dish so that there are rarely dishes in the sink.

I love my dishwasher and was happy when my daughter moved into her new apartment and gave me hers, since I didn't have one in mine! I wasn't having a problem hand washing my dishes, after hating doing them for so many years, but having the dishwasher is so much better.

I would love to have one but my kitchen is not set up for one.....I would lose too many cupboards as I only have one wall of them to begin with. If I remodeled the kitchen I would make room for one! I would love to have one!

In our country almost all houses doesn't have a dishwasher. We do the dishes by our own hands. I think the dishes will be cleaner when you do it by hand.

I hate to hand wash dishes by hand, but my client hates dishwashers. so, at home I use my dishwasher and there we store her extra containers in it since her kitchen is the size of a walk in closet - and not a big one either.

I still handwash my dishes. I have a dishwasher, but I prefer to wash them myself. I have never felt that my dishwasher did all that great of a job. By the time you rinse them enough for your dishwasher, you could have done them yourself.

I'm so use to always washing my dishes by hand. However, I just moved into this house with my husband that has a dishwasher already available for us to use. And well my husband has always used a dishwasher, so it's like half and half. When I'm doing the dishes I usually still do them by hand because I just don't always trust the use of a dishwasher, as there are times when I still see things all over my dishes. I just don't feel they are very clean. But the other times, when my husband insists that we use the dishwasher, I still use the sink to scrap and scrub most of the residue of the dishes before actually putting them in the dishwasher to be rinsed.

yes i rinse all my dishes (well the rule is when your done with a dish rinse it and put it in the dishwasher, much more easier) some dishwashers work real good, but the main ones you have to scrub them before you put them in.

Yes it does make life so much more easier and save you some time. We all love things in the home that save us time or energy or even money for that matter. I still wash somethings by hand that don't fit in the dish washer like some of my trays but I rinse most of the dishes clean before I place them in there. I want that machine to last as I do love it quite a bit and yes I use it a lot but know how to hand wash when I need to. Sometimes you need to know because what if you have a power out or something.

well i'm someone who just doesn't have a dishwasher. but i feel that even if i did have a dishwasher, i would not buy it as i feel that it wouldn't be of much use in my situation or country. i mean it would be of use of course, just that i think i'd still be washing some dishes still with my hands like those big dishes that we cook on and all.

In my case I handwash the dishes to save on water and electricity. I have a dishwasher but it usually takes 80 mins to finish a whole load and that's on the economy setting already. I only use it as a drying rack - a very expensive one but it came with the house.

Yes, I handwash the dishes (when I have to..pout), but really, no, we have no dishwasher, and although I wish I had one, I do know, that sometimes, even the pricey ones don't clean worth a crud... I don't, personally, recommend anything Maytag/Whirlpool/Amana--I seen how their stuff is made...

I love my dishwasher. With a family of 5, and a pile of dishes everyday, it is a lifesaver. Yet, I still do hand wash some of my dishes. I hand wash stuff like my tupperware, pots and pans, and sharp knives. If I put everything in the dishwasher, I would have to run my dishwasher everyday and then I would have an outrageous electric bill.

Oh boy!!! Well I don't exactly know how that feels, as I have my family trained to use one glass all day. But my brother and I use to do that to our mom when we were younger and lived at home. She would get so upset!

i say whats the point, your the only one to drink out of it, and if you are getting a differant drink just rinse it out, but no, they have to get a new one everytime, or my fiance will put my cup in the sink when im not done with it, and that makes me mad too

we have to run ours almost everyday, but thats because everyone tends to get a new cup after they drink out of it and that is so annoying

It would be really convenient if we have a dishwasher at home but, as of the moment, we don't have the luxury to buy one and rig it along the kitchen so, we just have to settle on washing dishes by hand and everyone is doing it after they eat or so..

Well, as long as they are my dishes to wash, I wouldn't mind at all but, if it's someone else's dishes, I kind'a get annoyed but, then again, its better to wash them now than to wait for them to pile up. Now that is very annoying too

Nothing worse than putting your hand in a bowl of dirty dishes and finding a sharp knife. The amount of times I got cut before getting a dishwasher / realising not to put the knives in with the rest of the washing.
