Fruits on empy stomach

April 9, 2008 2:17pm CST
I heard that eating fruits in the morning on empty stomach is very healthy because it help to improve the digestion and fruits didn't meet something in their way and so clean the intestines very well. What you say? It could make something bad this way of feed, it could generate a gastritis because of the acidity of fruits? I wait impatiently your responses because i want to feed my little son who is 14 months old in this way but i don't want to hurt him.

As you have not specified the name of the fruit its would be wrong to comment on the topics. Some fruits are good in empty stomach and some dont....

I didn't know this. There are a lot of fruits we can find in my country: apples, pears, grapes, strawberries, plums, oranges, bananas, pineapples, kiwi, papayas, mango, apricots, peaches, etc. There are too many to remember them now, maybe there are less that which are not good to eat on empty stomach. Thank you!

I referred to fruits on empty stomach without combinations. You said that you combine bananas and apples with milk. If you had been following this way of feed for the past 5 years it means that it is OK. Thanks!

Hello! I don't think it would be a bad way of feeding yourself. Yes, fruits are natural, and therefore they can't be so damaging to the organism. We eat them, all the time! Why can't we eat them while our stomachs are empty? So, if I had to advise you, I'd tell you to feed your son with fruits. However, I am not a specialist. Perhaps someone here in myLot will be able to answer you with a more appropriated answer. Nevertheless, thanks for sharing this useful information with us. I'll try feeding myself with fruits next time I feel hungry, and then I will see if it does hurt my stomach. I guess not, but I can only know if I try. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I strongly believe that fruits are very important for our organism. I am a little afraid that i can hurt my baby feeding him with fruits on empty stomach because when i eat fruits on empty stomach i feel that my stomach acidity grow. Thanks for your participation!

depends on what fruit. watermelon is not good when your tummy is empty and we have a fruit here in the philippines it is called buko, coconut. the fruit of a coconut tree. if you eat that with an empty tummy your tummy will ache. i think apple is good, cantaloupe and papaya are the ones that are good to eat in the morning

I don't know if this way of feed is good for the people who have gastritis too, but i think that if they eat something else after a half of hour it is OK.

Fruit on an empty stomach only takes about 20-30 minutes to digest so the maximum benefit is obtained by eating fruit before a meal. The greatest number of vitamins and minerals are absorbed in the intestines. Proteins and carbohydrates take a few hours to be digested, so if you are these first and then ate fruit, the fruit would not be digested as well as if eaten first. The thing to remember is balance, do not take too much of one fruit. For example, bananas are a good source of potassium, but if you had too many then it may unbalance the rest of the vitamins and minerals in your system. I do not have children, but I would imagine that a little piece of a few fruits would not do your son any harm.
