How can I work from home without being scammed?

I really want to work from home, like hundreds of other people but how can I without getting scammed? I live in the uk and would love to freelance or something, I previously done office work for about 7 years. Any ideas anyone? I did start my own business doing typing and data entry from home but all I get is people asking for jobs which isn't possible if I've got no work myself? Anyone got any ideas to help me. I need to work from home as my husband is disabled and I have a young child!

Hi, sorry been away for few days and now just catching up on mylot and other stuff. Anyway I wouldn't mind doing some sort of typing, don't know much about blogging to be honest but I'll give it a go, I do like general typing and writing but am not much good at making up stuff like stories etc.
