Words or Phrases You Always Misread

Do you have any words or phrases that you always misread? I've noticed that I cannot seem to correctly read this one sign that is on a lot of trucks. It says "Safety Is My Goal" and I have always read it as "My Safety Goal Is" for some reason. I would always look and try to see if there was some number after it or some type of safety goal. And recently, I finally took a better look and realized what it actually said. But even knowing what it actually says, my brain continues to see it the other way first pretty much every time. Isn't that weird? Does anyone else do that? With what word or phrase?

Well, this is so embarrassing to admit. One of my sons favorite books was called "Oh Bother". I must have read it to him a thousand times but it was never enough. All the while I was reading it, over and over, I was always saying "oh brother". It wasn't until a few years later that he came into the room snickering and holding the book. "Mum, what's the name of this book?" was all he asked. I said, "Oh brother". Then he says, "No mum, look at it again". this went on for a while until he finally pointed out to me that I was wrong. That was a hard one to get over.

Aww! That must have been a hard one! I must say though, I could see myself making a mistake like that. I often read words as similar words because of how I see them. One of my friends who does not have any reading problems normally was reading some organic chemistry stuff to me, and kept saying something about Adelehyde (spelling? you know, the German full name for Heidi...). I finally figured out she meant aldehyde and corrected her. She was so embarassed. I have her read to me because she is a much better reader than me, so she was sorry for the mistake. But I didn't mind.

I do that all the time I normally catch myself but sometimes I have to read things over and over. I can't think of any phrases that stand out in particular for me it can be any andn ot always the same ones. At least you know what it says now ^^.

Yeah, for me it can happen at any time too. I catch myself sometimes if I'm reading slowly and to myself. If I'm trying to rush because I am reading out loud for a class or something, it is usually bad. It helps though if I put my fingers each under one word.

Perhaps we all have one or two mental quirks like that.I know that from childhood on i have had this thing where I will start to say something about something with the letter 9 in it and a lot of times willsay instead of 9, D. why I do not know as I am not dyslexic yet I have this one weird trait of going 8 D ten and realizing what goof up.why I do this I have never figured out. I mean I can of course count as anyone of normal intelligence from one to ten I do this most of the time then just as I think I only longer have this weird happening I will go 8 D and it is so maddening.every one looks at me like I have two heads and I know my face is red.

"The" and "They" I keep misreading it, although I can clearly see the difference in spelling. and yes, after I look back, (a few times that is) I finally "catch" what it is actually and be able to read it properly. Kinda horrible living with dyslexia.
