A SUGAR SITUATION: what KIND do you use and how MUCH do you use?

Sugar is no longer just sugar now. But it is still a sweetener. We have different kinds of sugar. The most common is the white sugar. And there are sugar substitutes, and these are becoming very common nowadays. With the increase in the risk of diabetes among people (adult in particular)... no sugar added food/beverages are a good market. And so the artificial sugar found it's way there too. I usually use the brown sugar in cooking or in sweetening my drink. I was told that it's more healthy. But I also use Splenda because according to what I read it is a good sugar substitute. And since I love sweet, I use a lot of sugar be it brown sugar or splenda. So what kind of sugar do you use in your food or drink? and how much do you use?

I hardly use sugar at all as it is not healthy and I NEVER use artificial sweeteners as they are pure poison!! The only sweetener i will use is Stevia as it is all natural!

I have always tried to cut my sugar use. Sugar is unhealthy, and the substitutes are even worse for your health. Part of the Obesity problems in our society today is caused by our overuse of sugar. Sugar donuts are a curse! Try to cut your sugar use, and reap the benefit. Do it today and be healthy!

I really don't use much sugar. I'm trying to use more honey because of all the health benefits that are in it. I only use a sprinkling of sugar in my coffee and don't drink much coffee any more. I don't like sweet tea ether. Sugar is really just empty calories. Did you know that brown sugar is just white sugar with molasses in it?

I like to use honey too, but it's too expensive. I didn't know that brown sugar is white sugar with molasses added to it. THanks for sharing.

I do not use much sugar. About all I ever use it for is baking and I often cut-back on the amount. I kept some packets of stevia or Splenda around to sweeten iced tea, but I don't use much of it either.

Splenda comes handy. I like it too, I can keep a pack of it in my purse and I'm good to go. THanks for the response.

I use organic pure cane sugar for baking, stevia for sweetening drinks and such. I also will use a tiny bit of natural sweeteners- honey, fruit juice, applesauce, etc- as a substitute for sugar but I haven't played around with that too much.

I largely use Splenda. I put it in my tea...and that's probably averages about 2-3 pakets a day. I have also baked with both the white and the brown sugar version of Splenda. i used it for cookies, just as you would regular sugar and it worked quite well. In fact, I don't think anyone could tell the difference and I didn't tell them either!

as a diabetic I have found splenda is great for things that need some sugar and it doesnt raise my blood glucose at all also you can bake with it and use it to sweeten tea and other beverages. I also keep plain white sugar on hand to use when my blood sugar is too low.
