well cricket is a teams game. so the player who can win games for you, he is a successful cricketer. this is the reason why i think Kapil Dev is such a great player. he was the one who contributed a lot to the only world cup win for our indian team. this is why steve waugh is such a great player. records are good to have. but more important is to make your country proud and that can be done by winning. we will be happy if our team wins and not if a player is judged as the best player in world cup.

Yes, you are absolutely right.Cricketers are playing for the country officially. Hefty fees are paid , a lot of revenue is generated from the public and it involves the national pride.A player has to mould himself to the team's requirements rather than the other way round.

This is obvious answer the player who play for the team. U need to be team man otherwise there is no reason to be in the team.

That is really tricky question.. Player who plays for his team's win should be successful. But what happens the one who plays for himself has good statistics to show the world!

hmm..well! certainly it should be the one who plays for the team is good. This question really reminds the debate about Sachin in our team. He intentionally does not play for himself but it happens at the end of the day and he is great player. but he is really unfortunate to complete the innings..
