Disposable Razors VS Razers with Changeable Heads....

Bic Soliel Razor - This is a picture of a Bic Soliel Disposable Razor. As you can see, the handle is just like that of a non-disposable razor.

So I know that the right thing to do environmentally would be to but a razor with changeable head and just buy the cartirdges, therefore making less garbage. However, I will never do that, because for some reason that I cannot even begin to understand, razor head cartridges, in any brand, are about twice the price of the same number of disposable razors of the same variety. How is this possible? I but Bic Soleil disposable razors, that have a nice heavy handle, that is very much the same as the handle that you get for the changeable cartridge razors. So how can the company offer a package of 4 complete razors for less than they charge for just 4 razor heads/cartridges? It takes more material to make the full razors. I personally can see no difference between the heads of the disposable razors, and the heads for the other razor, othen that the little clips that let you attach the heads to the handle. You would think that the disposable razors would cost more. It makes no sense to me. Can someone please explain this phenomenom to me?

Good point! I have to agree, the disposables cost more than the replaceable blade ones..and I haven't a clue to why this is. I can see where the replaceable head ones would cost more initially (ie: brand name costs, not cheap plastic, better quality, etc) but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that the replacement blades cost so much. If they really wanted people to be environmentally correct, then they would make the price discrepancy disappear so people would be less tempted to buy the cheapest disposable over the longer lasting replaceables. All the cheap disposables are doing is filling up landfill space with something larger that isn't biodegradable.

Yeah it doesn't make much sense does it? I don't beleive that the cartridge blades last any longer than the blades in the disposable razors either. I will keep buying the disposables because they are cheaper, but it sucks that they make so much garbage.
