There are so many hard disk brands in the market. Which ones have you guys tried & which ones are you guys still using? Any recommendations? I've used Seagate, Quantum Fireball, Quantum Bigfoot, Maxtor. Some no longer exists anymore. Have sold Hitachi, Seagate, Western Digital. Am using Western Digital now & finding it to be most reliable at the moment. I find Maxtor more unreliable than Hitachi although my vendor says the return rate is 50 50. Like Western D as the return rate is minimum & the claiming process is very fast. Have not tried ou Samsung HDD. So what r your opinions?

I agree with the batch thing. I have an unpleasant experience with maxtor my friends had but there are others that last. HD brand I think is more of a personal preference, even if I see a good rating on a brand which I had a bad history, it would be very difficult for me to nod. So what is my brand, Seagate - never return one for warranty at least the one I use.

Yup, I do feel Seagate is a better brand than Samsung. But since now they have merged with Maxtor, have you tried their HDDs? I've used both Seagate & Maxtor before. I find Seagate is 1 of the top brands but as for Maxtor, I had numerous not so pleasant experiences. Maybe it's the batch because it tends to KO right after it's warranty or just a month so after. Kinda sad.

Well, not exactly a monster...hehe. For the price I bought my 250GB, you can easily get a 320GB with around RM10-RM20 less ;) Taht's how fast technology evolves!~

I have used Seagate, Western Digital, Maxtor, IBM, Quantum, Hitachi and Samsung hard drives. I am currently using a Western Digital Raptor and a Seagate Barracuda hard drives. I recommend either Seagate or Western Digital. Seagate drives come with 5 year warranties. I have never once had a problem with either a Seagate or a Western Digital hard drive.

Hi-5 man!~ That's d way 2 go. I never had any problems with both drives as well & I love them both. I'm currently using a 3.5" SATA 250GB WD for my external backup & another 2.5" 80GB NB external HDD I bought few years back. Used Seagate b4 as well & never failed me. Both are good brand names.

Yup, Seagate is still one of the best I guess. Western Digital is not bad as well but I guess once bitten twice shy, people tend to shun away after having a bad experience with a particular brandI guess sometimes like I did mention before it's depending on the different batches as well.

i had two option when i purchased my harddisk samsung and segate i choose samsung becouse samsung sevice station in near to my home i can go direct to service station and claim warranty in case of seagate they don't accept claim directly in my area it takes some additional time. i think segate and samsung are same both have same feature and 5 year replacement warranty may be different feature in different country.

Oh, you're using a Samsung, cool. I heard my friend is using a 2.5" Samsung as an external drive & so far so good. How about you? Oh, I didn't know Samsung has 5 years warranty? I think Western Digital has only 3 years & I guess te same goes for the other brands. I guess it's a different country different policy thing. So is your Samsung HDD a PC/Desktop or a laptop HDD? How's it going so far? Though I do read once in a while the reviews by tech sites or mags/newspapers, nothing beats from hearing it from a user himself.
