Okay the digital age of televison is fast approaching us in the States. In the next couple of months I am going to be buying an HDTV. I have looked around and have a few that I like but..... I want at least a 37 inch TV. I prefer a name brand that's well know but not needed. I am looking at spending under $1000 also. Now I need some suggestions comments or opinions on this issue. Which is better for standard watching in a room that's 10 feet by 8 feet Plasma or LCD? What is the diffference in these two? Do you own an HDTV? What TV would you suggest or have in your home? I will have a sattelite box, DVD, and surround sound connected to it as well. I need some help with suggestions and or reviews of your experience in HDTV's please. Thanks in advance. Any other info you supply would also be greatly appreciated. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi Grandpa Bob, I suggest you go for SIZE. The BIGGER, the better. Unless you are feeling RICH, and I mean RICH with CAPITAL LETTERS, skip the plasma. The colors may be richer (supposedly) but they are small for the price tags. And really, the "better" colors will not enrich the viewing experience for most of us - and I include myself in this category. Any TV, ok, any color TV, will do. There is a gigantic TV (I think it is projection or whatever you call it - it was there before plasma got popular) and I don't think getting a smaller one will be easy getting used to. Watching a BIGGER TV just makes TV viewing more enjoyable.

Well working for myLot I am surely NOT RICH! So that is not the problem. Or it is the problem. I have always been leaning towards the LCd display. I now have a 27 inch TV and am looking at a 40 inch set for the switchover. Or possibly even 42 inch. Any bigger and it will be like sitting front row center at a theatre and moving my head from side to side to watch TV. Thanks Wiz. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi again Grandpa Bob, If I were you, I will look at where I am putting the TV and get the largest TV within my budget that will not be too large to spoil the viewing experience. Have fun shopping!

try and decide - do you want to be able to see it from the sides? some flat screens are seen from the sides better than others, or in well lite rooms. When you are shopping, be sure to check these things.

It won't be seen from the sides as the living room is long and skinny. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
