buying an iphone through at&t or through ebay?

I was recently looking into buying an iphone, I currently have AT&T and could purchase one (upgrade) for $399 (8 gig) with free shipping, but I am just wondering why some people are purchasing unlocked phones for more than $450 + shipping on sites such as ebay other than them not having a current plan with AT&T?? What are the pros and cons?

I don't think everyone can get the $399 deal you are talking about. I know a couple of people who couldn't upgrade their phones for another year or so, so it was going to cost full price for them...that's they bought them on ebay for about $400-$500.

if you want to be sure and you want to purchase online? then go to download.com and go to the compare price then pick what category you want to view. some category are at&t, amazon, etc. they dont have ebay for it i dont know why but you can compare prices on it and ship it if you like to buy. it is safe than any other.
