Cooking with organically grown herbs is very fun. There's nothing like being able to go outside to your own herb garden, find the desired herbs for your current recipe and cooking with them fresh from the garden. We raise rosemary, sage, oregano, spicy oregano, chives, thyme, and lavendar just to name a few. I've forgotten the other types that I am just now starting from seed. Using your land to grow your own organic vegetables and herbs makes a lot of sense. We have a natural source of manure from our goats and chickens. We make something called 'organic tea' for the plants. It involves adding the manure and other items from the compost pile into a large vat with water and stirring it everyday to loosen the essential fertilizers for the garden. I would love to discuss organic gardening.

I don't have a lot of space in my back garden but I grow herbs in pots and tubs on the patio. Last year I was able to use a wide range of herbs and I also cut and dried a lot of my own home grown herbs and kept them in airtight jars in the kitchen. I would rather grow my own any day

I dried a whole bunch of cilantro as I make my own home made salsa. I just now finished using the last of my dried cilantro. Since it's spring now, I went out back and where I had grown cilantro last year it had re-seeded itself and I have several new plants starting. I've decided to use this 8x10 foot section to grow just cilantro. Since it re-seeds itself (plus I save a bunch of seeds last fall to re-plant this year)...I decided to use a certain section for just cilantro. Since it worked with cilantro, I'm going to try doing a section of just parsley. I've been saving used up platic spice bottles to re-use for my own dried herbs. Growing your own herbs makes a lot of sense.
