I lost my job in January and have not returned to work as of yet. Since this time I have gained around 10 lbs. I don't eat anymore than usual if fact I barely eat 1 meal a day. I really want to lose the weight in a healthy way, but I hate exercise. I know that I have to exercise to get results. So here is my question. Does anyone have a fun, exciting way to exercise and lose weight with results? Let me know how you have lost weight and how things are going for you.

It seems that many cultures & people have various ways to keep healthy. It seems that Aerobics is one way, particularly in the US. The Chinese & Japanese have martial arts - sort of like get a good work-out & learn to defend yourself at the same time. "East of Athens" as someone that I know puts it, belly dancing is one heck of a work-out. The thing is, if you can enjoy that, it's exercise that you don't even know that you're doing.

Its so funny you mentioned belly dancing, one early morning on tv, on fitness station, they had belly dancing as a workout. I tried to follow along hoping to try it out. I am the WORST person at trying to dance. I could not get my hips to follow my brain. lol....I have no coordination it seems.. I would love to keep at it. It really was looking like it was fun.

Keeping steady with the beat is a lot harder than people realize, especially for me. I, too, have that problem of me not doing what my brain tells it to do. As a guitarist, it was difficult for me. It's even harder bouncing &/or hopping around on a stage & keep steady with everyone else. Of course, I also have trouble dancing. Maybe we should try getting together & laugh at our & wach other's attempts. Speaking of which, laughing is also a good work-out, especially when you're laughing so hard that you can't even move, & when the laughter lasts for a good while. Uh - trying some reverse psychology ... don't laugh.

You have to eat to lose weight. If you starve yourself your body automatically goes into survival mode and hangs on to the fat cells already in your body as it doesn't know the next time it will get fed. As others have already advised you it's best to "graze" during the day. Eat a good breakfast - never skip breakfast - and then eat smaller amounts of food every 3 hours. Foods like vegetables, fruit, protein and a little carbohydrate. If you don't like exercising do you like playing video games? If so, get yourself a Wii console (if you don't already have one) and play the wii sports - I guarantee it will get you sweating! Especially the boxing one! Wii has just brought out Wii fitness, something else you can try. Good luck and keep eating!!

I've been having a terrible time this winter as well. I haven't been working and spending a lot of time on the computer to try to earn a few $$$$. It's also been a horrible winter here, cold and snowy for months. I haven't gotten much exercise and have packed on the pounds too. The key is getting up and moving around I guess. Plus being on the computer late at night, I have been known to "snack". Bad Girl!!! The weather is supposed to be much nicer this week, so I'm going to tear myself away from the keyboard and get out and walk and try not to snack. My Gazelle is also stored out it the garage. That's where it landed when we made our big move. I'm going to ask my husband to bring it in, because it is fun and low impact. My cousin and I were just discussing this new gadget called the "Trikke" that looks like it would be a blast. Look it up on You Tube if you haven't seen it. There are some instructional videos showing it off as well as some experts doing tricks. They are really popular right now.

I heard someone talking on the TV awhile ago that not eating helps you put on weight as our bodies are very high tech things, they said it is better to eat many small meals during the day because if you miss meals the body stores what food is eaten for the times when food is denied, it is a survival thing so si think what they were saying is if miss meals your body will store what food you do eat for the times it needs it and this turns to fat so it is better to eat say 6 small healthy meals during the day....sounds logical to me, our bodies are a very complex machine and nature itself does work this way...

I think I saw that too. I think it has something to with out metabolizm. That is will start to burn the amount of calories you normally consume. And when you adjust it all of a sudden it won't or something like that. thanks

keep a food diary of everything that you eat. you might be surprised everything that you eat. if you dont have a lot of money, you could buy weights (they are fairly cheap) and look up some exercises that you could do while you are watching tv.

Well if you like sports you could join some sort of league, you'd have fun and get your excercise, personally i like hitting the weights with a little cardio, that will get you the best results, also since your not doing exercise you may want to change your eating habits if they include fast food at all, cut that out completely or maybe once every couple weeks, but start with a good breakfast, could be a bowl of cereal like special k,cheerios, for lunch you know maybe a sandwich, try to stay away from junky snacks if you get hungry in between, maybe an apple or orange, or yogurt, then a nice protein meal, meat, potatoes, veggies, and if you do hit the gym, depending on what time you go, eat a good carb meal maybe hour before to give you some extra energy and bring along a low carb gatorade/powerade
