Now that Spring is making it's debut(finally)here in New England ;the flurry of bird activity in my yard has been fascinating to watch. There's no less than seven different species of bird providing a symphony of sqwauking and chirping from Morning doves, Blue jays ,our state bird the Chickadee and Finches. Everyday this week I've observed no less than thirty Robins at once digging for worms in the front yard. A truly rare sight has been a partnership of Cardinals setting up house in a bush planted not ten feet from the house,It appears that Mama Cardinal is getting prepared to drop a few eggs real soon because the brilliant red Daddy Cardinal is chasing everything away that comes anywhere near the bush where they're building a nest. Do you enjoy the springtime nature activities in your neighborhood?

i love to watch birds and we have a lot of big trees fullyleafed so they come to our apt complex. we have mocking birdss and blue jays anb black birds, and tons of big sassy black crows. Myfavorite is the little emerald green hummingbird with a brilliant ruby throat. she hovers over the hawthorne bushes that are rosy with blooms and sips nectar. she is so pretty and her wings just go so fast they are a blur. We have a robin that has built a nest in a big laurel tree close to our front door. Soon we will have some baby robins. We also have a lot of warblers with bright yellow chests And all night you can hear one really lound mocking bird who must have insomnia for sure

I have watched birds since I was a kid. I even got a merit badge in Girl Scouts. I wish I could watch more, but where we are we just have a few types of birds in our neighborhood, including sparrows, mockingbirds, cardinals, bluejays, crows, robins (right now) and a few finches. Texas has a wide diversity of types of land so if a person could travel all over the state we could see shore birds, city birds, country and desert type birds.

I am not a bird watcher though I do not mind hanging around the place where many are bird watchers. The chirping of the birds seems so refreshing after a morning jog. Perhaps that's one reason why many take to bird watching. It is a pity that these birds are caged though.

I love the springtime and there is a great bird activity here in Kentucky. Besides the different types of birds singing and accomodating themselves in all my bird houses is also beautiful to watch all the dog wood trees coming out. The leaves are coming back and everything is alive again.

I am not a twitcher but I do like to watch the birds that come into our garden. We have lots of feeders around and also a small shallow pond that the birds love to bath in. We get lots of different birds and this year we have a pair of wrens that have nested in our garden in a creeper that is climbing up my kitchen wall

Oh yes! We've got a lot of the same thing here in Ohio. The robins have returned and are very plentiful, busily hopping around looking for that free lunch. We've got blackbirds, cardinals, blue jays, and all sorts of little wren-like birds and sparrows. We also have a chipmunk or two that makes his presence known every once in a while, and a rabbit that stops by every morning and evening. Yes, I love spring and all the critters. Until they start getting into my little garden space!

No, I'm not a birdwatcher, but there was a time back in college where pretending to be avid birdwatching students in an ornithology class got us out of trouble! I imagine it's a peaceful hobby--I'm too neurotic to sit down for such a hobby, though...

I like birds very much...I have a lot of bird houses and 2 of them birds are nesting..The one by my pond has little blue eggs and the bird house out in front of my property has baby birds that are still in the nest..I also feed the wild birds and the beautiful hummingbirds...My husband is an avid bird watcher and knows all the birds by name....We have wood pekers out here and also wrens and hummingbirds, also red birds and some blue birds....We also have owls, not the normal bird but we do have them....We live in Texas and the warm weather has brought out lots of birds...We always have fed and taken care of the birds around our place....

I love watching all the birds. There are all kinds out here, from the colorful ones like Cardinals and Jays, to the black birds and barn swallows. I even have a family of turkey vultures that hang around the top of the old barn silo. They are really something to see when they spread their wings and glide around looking for food. My favorites are the sparrows. I always see them when I'm washing dishes, I look out the kitchen window, and the sparrows are playing out on the deck. They look like they're having a circus.

Hi, I'm from Australia, where it's autumn (fall), so we don't have the birds getting together for mating - although some are a bit confused with the crazy weather we've been having. I've got a list of birds that I've seen on our (small) property. There are at least 35 different kinds of birds on my list and every once in a while I'll add a new one. It's exciting to see the different birds and hear the different bird calls. We've lived here for nearly twenty years, and before we came to live in the country I had no idea about the diversity of bird types. I love to watch the birds, and I've been writing haiku poems about them recently, trying to catch the telling moments that catch the essence of the bird.
