My son is five and a half months old, and has been crawling for around a month and a half, he was also rolling around at two months of age. People say he is very advanced... He is my first so I have nothing to compare it to, what is your opinion and how old were your children, if you have any, when they crawled???

My son started doing everything early too, but each kid progresses on their own level.

I think thats early because my son didnt crawl until he was 8 months but thats good that he wants to crawl. Let him explore maybe he will start walking pretty shortly.

My daughter is 4 months and rolls all over the house. LOL She hasnt started crawling yet, i dont think she has figured out that she has to move her hands and knees. I dont remember when my son started crawling, but he started walking about 9 months. The crawling isnt that bad, its when they start walking, then they can run from you and think its funny. LOL

Nora sitting - She started sitting up on her own at the end of October--just before she turned 7 months.
My son was about the same. He rolled from back to front to back at around 3 months and was doing the army crawl at 4 months. He climbed the stairs at 5 months and by 6 months he was crawling on hands and knees, pulling up and cruising the furniture and climbing onto the couch if he had a toy to step on (he would then jump off the couch). He took his first step at 9 months and was walking by 10 1/2 months. He was a handful. They usually say babies develop their motor skills or their talking. My son did both. He was also talking in complete sentences by the time he turned 1 and by 18 months he spoke as well as my daughter who was almost 3. He's 5 now and is perfectly average now. Eventually the kids that are behind will catch up and they will probably all start school at the same level, no matter at what age one started walking and talking. My older girls were pretty average on the stuff. My oldest rolled at around 5 months and started crawling at 7 1/2 months and walked at 14 months. My middle daughter rolled at 5 months, crawled at 6 months and walked at 12 months. My youngest daughter is following her brother more. She rolled at 3 months, did the army crawl (on her tummy) at 4months but is now crawling on all fours (started at almost 7 months). She isn't talking yet like her brother, though. At 7 months my son knew a lot of words. She hasn't said her first word yet.

All children are different. My son didn't crawl til 6 months. My first got teeth at 3 months, my second at a year, and my 8 month old has none yet. Even if you had another to compare to it would still be different. Just enjoy your beautiful baby!

Yes your son sounds very advanced.. he may just have learnt his motor skills alot faster than other children, which is a good thing. My daughter started everything early she was advanced in everything she did, my son on the other hand took forever before crawling, he used to do a swimming action instead lol I cant remember their exact ages ..

I guess you could say that mine were normal. My first started crawling at about 6/7 months and my second--who is now 9 months old--started last month, but was rolling around since he was about 5 months. I think that is pretty cool how advanced your son is. But be careful, he might be a pretty good climber and getting into EVERYTHING before you know it!! But have loads of fun and congrats!!

My son (now 20 months) was never very into crawling. He started walking AND crawling around 9 months. Late for crawling maybe? But early for walking. Then he went through a month or so where he decided he didn't like walking and went back to crawling. Now he just RUNS everywhere! thump thump thump thump!

yep thats early and since boys usually develope slower that may really seem fast. Crawling is good thow. My oldest 2 walked by 9mo so they must have crawled at like 5/6mo.

My son was 10 months old before he started crawling. All children develop at different speeds.

I can't remember how old mine were, but my 11 week old has not started yet. Your child does sound like he is learning quickly. Congrats
