I can't get my mind off mylot

I am so addicted to mylot that I find myself being in places such as the break area at work, standing in the shower, shopping at the grocery store and so on and so forth trying to think of topics of discussions to start here on this site. Its the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing I do at night before I go to work. I came home from work tonight with a bad headache, took a pill and went to bed very early. Now I'm up at 6 in the morning and where am I? On mylot! Do you get up in the middle of the night and run to the computer or find yourself thinking about things to discuss throughout your day when you are away from your computer?

Kathy, you're saying all this like it's a bad thing? I do the same thing. It's got to the point that I'll be talking with my husband and all of a sudden say oooh, I can put that on myLot and make money! A couple of times when I did that it wasn't convenient to come start a discussion right then, so yes, I did make a note to remember to do it later. Are we too far gone? Is there a twelve step program for us?

I do that to my wife as well and all she does is laugh. It is addicting huh? I love it though. I've even taken photos of her at work and did discussions along those lines in the past. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Actually my boyfriend says the same thing to me. We will be talking and he'll say "you could start that as a discussion on mylot". I'm beginning to think there should be a 12 step program. LOL.

Only all the time. I have had to go out this morning. I came flying back and straight on here. There should be some ind of therapy that you can get. In fact perhaps I could retrain as a myLot addiction counsellor. Discounts for friends. Free for you. LOL

Awwww, you are so kind. What no mylot digest today? I didn't get mine, did you get yours? As for being a mylot counselor, I'm not so sure that would work out since you are so addicted yourself. You'd be getting ideas from people that sought your help. LOL.

I know exactly what you mean!! Everthing that happens to me in a day, I will look at it in view of a possible discussion. When I talk to people I do the same. I do not get up in the middle of the night though I must admit, so I am perhaps not that bad yet! Glad your headache is better, there is nothing worse than a bad head.

Thanks for the comment about my headache. Whats worse is when you get a headache at work and have to continue to have to wait on customers, but yes its much better today. Thank you. I don't always run to the computer in the middle of the night, but because I went to bed so early last night with my headache, I woke up at 4 because I had already slept so long. What else to do, but mylot!

I know, I used to work in a pub, getting a headache when you are working in those places is the absolute worst! Even if I went to bed early I would not be up early the next day! Me and sleep are the best of friends when we get the chance to get together, but if I did ever start to get up really early of a morning I am pretty sure I would use the spare time to be on here too!

Im thinking of carrying a little notebook with me so I can write down my thoughts/ideas for discussions as I find that by the time I get to the computer, turn it on and get to mylot.... poof its vanished!!! That can be very frustrating!!! I do find myself thinking about topics but I dont rush to the computer in the middle of the night as once Im asleep, I dont tend to wake up til the morning. Depending if Im at work or not depends if I turn on the computer, if Im working I have to wait till 9pm and that is slightly frustrating as I wonder whats happening in the world of mylot!!

Ha, ha I do the same thing. I think of things and then I get busy and forget them by the time I get home. In fact, yesterday I made sure I took a notebook with me, just in case I got an idea, but then I forgot that I had the notebook. Go figure.

It's the same thing happening to me now..I seemed to be "addicted" to mylot, whatever I am doing, my mind seemed to be busy finding what discussions or issues I could create and post..even when I'm already laying on my bed and still can't sleep, all I think of is mylot!!!! The next morning after I woke up, I'll begin my day with checking out my discussions for any response, and then create and post new discussions... It really is addictive...maybe because I love what I am doing , conversing to people on mylot, sharing ideas and opinions about anything under the sun...

I think its important to be validated in life and to feel that people think what we have to say is important. So we post discussions and then run to the computer to see if we've got any responses. LOL.

Its true, you're always thinking about topics you want to talk about, its getting insane. But I'm sure we'll get over it. Its either that or we'll go completely insane and addicted to mylot :) But it helps you in starting conversations. You read about so many topics and discussions that you are much more aware of what's going on around you

Hi! I'm Bob and I'm a myLotaholic. I take my digital camera and a pad of paper and pen everywhere I go in case I run across something that would make a good discussion. So this addiction is rampant it seems. I love this place for the aspect of mostly learning about other countries cultures and beliefs etc. Thank you mtLot for this great opportunity as well. I am retired and take care of my father whom lives with me so I am online almost all day till 3 a.m. so that explains a lot doesn't it? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Thats pretty funny. Sounds like you are introducing yourself in a 12-Step program. I like learning about other cultures also. I love the diversity that mylot offers. Thats really cool that you take care of your father, it takes a special person to do that kind of thing.

I do from time to time. It usually happens when my husband is away and I can't get to sleep. If I don't find anything on tv to watch then I'm on the computer either in mylot or playing games.

If I start a discussion a day, I'm being really busy! If I do wake up in the middle of the night, I want to get up and clear out my inbox - that means mylotting for a while. Since I woke up at 1:15 this morning - I went to bed early - here I am, cleaning out my inbox - its now 2:40.

I've had sleeping problems for years, so while I don't stay up late and I try to stay in bed all night, some days it just doesn't happen.

I don't want to give the impression that this is a nightly escapade, because its not. I either stay up late or once in awhile get up because I can't sleep and end up replying to discussions here on this site. I just started back to work, so I don't spend as many hours late at night as I used to.

Hello there kbourgerie, I am a guilty user as well, ha! Starting off again (after I accidentally deleted mylot account), I am now embarking again on a new journey but none tired nevertheless. I do have to admit for a new user like me to be addicted, what more for a veteran user such as you and the others in mylot. I can't imagine that! And I'm getting the symptoms too, LOL. But I suppose there is a very good side to it all. We get different views each time and have a broader perspective on things. I have to admit too that my mind gets sharper each time since joining mylot, because mylot makes you think, and improve on your writings, and at the same time makes you "aware" of all the things that are happening all over the world. Like I saw one discussion where one student runs naked or something and I didn't know that there's such a news outside of my country. So, mylot is informative, addictive and I could get answers to my discussions as well. I don't really think so much about what I want to discuss, but it's more like a spot-on and instant thing for me. Maybe being a guy, I think that way, not sure about others though. But I love to answer friends' discussions and other new users because when I look at the discussions, I think that I have an advice to contribute or I could get curious and start asking them. Like for instance for software information which I read and people start talking about it, and I would just pop up a comment and ask. So, to answer your question, YES, I can't get my mind off mylot, because I am always curious and everyday curious about what new things I'm going to find out. The knowledge in mylot is so diverse and tend to make me and the others, I'm sure, greedy for information and knowledge. Have a nice day there. ;)

Absolutely, I lay in bed sometimes and think oh I should have added that to that response or I will think of a myLot friend that I haven't seen post for a while and think I'll PM in the morning to check they are ok, but yes in everyday life I'm thinking of new discussions or something does happen and I post as a discussion later. It definately does become addictive I must admit. Ellie :D

It is addicting. I can't believe the times I find myself sitting trying to think of an original discussion, which is just about impossible to do.

Yeah, where abouts are you from? Over here it is the norm to have tons of computers in each class. I go to a technology college, so we have the added extra of extra funding every year. But there are 900 pupils, and 80 staff, there are a total of 800 computers in the school - desktops and laptops. Basically, its 1 computer for every student. We can use them whenever we want, and how ever much we want, on the web or any program for free, all the time. I also take dida (Diploma in digital aplications / advanced ICT) So i do advanced ict at college. Do you not have anything like this where you are? Chris

I'm not that obsesses but i regular think about topics i can use for mylot. I find it very difficult because most of the mylotters are from the US i think, i'm not. There ar some (medical)issue i like to discuss but i'm to afraid to do it. Have a great day!

Thats exactly why I'm on now. I can't sleep. My back has been hurting quite a bit, so even though I tried laying down, I had to get back up. Hopefully, I'll get tired enough soon that it won't matter whether my back hurts or not.

Yes, and I have got into a very bad habit of staying up way too late at night! It's almost 2 am right now and I didn't even know it!!!! The dog usually gets me up around 4 or 5 am and wants to go outside. While he is out there, I come and check my email to see if anyone replied to any of my posts. I can only ever keep one eye open though. For some reason, the computer screen is too bright for my right eye. Weird....going to bed now.
