How many people in this world prefer a cat over a dog? Do you feel cats give more affection then dogs?

I have both cats and dogs and love all of them for different reasons. The dogs are tons of fun to play with and go for walks with and just doing all kinds of stuff together with them. And they do come sometimes when you call them. And they certainly are loyal too. But cats are very entertaining on their own. And some of them are very affectionate and will sit in your lap. I actually have had several cats that would come to me when I called them. So I am very fond of both cats and dogs. And goats and Donkeys too.

I love cats and we have two at the moment but getting another one soon. I am quite scared of dogs to be honest especially the bigger one's. When I was younger my friends dogs used to come up to you and play bite with you and I hated it. We have a male and a femake cat and the female cat is so affectionate and loves to sit on your knee and be pampered.

I'd say it's the other way round. For the last 50 years I've shared my life with cats and dogs and can only say for me the relationship with them is different. I get so much pleasure and love from them it's hard to say I prefer one above the other. When it comes to 'family' both give as much love and affection, though Cats tend to do it quietly and without jumping all over you! The difference is dogs will be affectionate and friendly with people they see often or who give them treats, whereas trying to 'win over' one of my cats would be a waste of time. I meet a lot of animals as I work in the community as a care assistant and often part of my duties is to feed not only my 'clients' but their pets, and it doesn't take long for even the unfriendliest dog to start greeting me as enthusiastically as my own does! The cats rarely bother to greet me and don't show much affection at all. When they do I take it as a huge compliment!!!

hello, i grow up having both pets, a cat and a dog. i see them both loving and have different personalities that makes me love them both. i think their personalities are very different and they both have their own way of showing their love and affection to whoever owns them. my cat right now is living with my mom but i am hoping that she will be with me soon. we currently have one dog and looking forward to have another one maybe after 3yrs or so :) takecare!

i have 2 cats that i absolutely adore! they are very affectionate-when they want to be-and wouldn't trade them for anything. my best friend has 2 dogs-who are equally as affectionate, so i don't think one gives more affection than another. i think it just depends on the individual animal.

I do think that cats give more affection than dogs, My cats are just the sweetest creatures on earth. They love to snuggle in bed and on the couch and give kisses. I prefer cats over dogs any day. Cats are just easier to take care of. I can leave my cats overnight and not have to worry about getting a sitter or boarding them. With a dog I would not be able to do this.

I have only one cat now but I did have 8 at one time, I love cats, but I prefer dogs, now I am just too sick to take care of a cat. cats can be affectionate but it is on their own time, they are more independent than dogs but they still need human affection too.

I have 5 cats and have always had a cat or more then one in my home. A lot of people prefer dogs over cats because dogs show more affection at times and do tricks, but that's one reason I like cats is their independance. My cats show a lot of love too though. They like to rub against your legs, sit on your lap or just beside you purring. It's like apples and oranges some prefer one over the other. As for showing more affection then dogs they show the same amount just in differant ways. ceciliah

I have a cat and I prefer cats because they are self-sufficent and can take care of themselves.

I think that cats are adorable and cute, they have soft fur to stoke and they pur when they like you petting them. Dogs... they bark, have rough hair, which is very coarse and they don't seem to be very loving to me. I am a cat person. Dogs, don't seem very loving to me!

I like dogs, but I find cats easier to take care of. I have two cats, one comes looking for attention and the other comes once in awhile looking to be petted. They don't always get along, so they keep their distance. They each contribute a little something in my life in their own little ways.

We have like 8 cats and a dog.. I find our cats funny since each has their own distinct personalities, but they always seem to expect that they are the boss over you.. Ofcourse, it also helps that they groom themselves so that's one less thing to worry about...

personally i prefer a cat over a dog. i have 3 cats and i can't imagine getting any more affection than they give me. my cats welcome me at the door when i come back, follow me around the flat and sleep with me. maybe it's easier to train a dog to listen to commands but cats can do the same if they feel that their 'slave' really love them. my boy can do the hind-leg stand for as long as i want him to. my girl comes when called and sleeps with her head next to mine. dogs are as affectionate as i've got friends who have dogs. what's most important is the bond between the animal and the human. if there is no bond, the animal can't be affectionate at all.

Cats are very affectionate. My Josie is always in my lap purring her little heart out. They all come when they are called. Josie reminds me when its dinner time and tells me when to go to bed so she can curl up next to me. Cats do not bark at nothing and scare me to pieces.
