... that it happens about 2 to 3 times more to men than to woman? This is because of the fact woman have two X-chromosomes and men have an X-chrosome and a Y-chrosome. When someone has a disorder in some cases this is due to genetics. With a lot of types of mental retardation this is the case; there is a fragility on the X-chrosome that causes the mental retardation. When a woman has 1 fragile X-chromosome she still has one left to make up with. Because a man hasn't an extra X-chromosome the retardation/disorder will allways develope; there is nothing left to make up for it. Woman are more vulnerable for other types of dissorders, for example the borderline personality disorder (75% to 85% of the people diagnoses with borderline are women).
