Alergic recation comes back after 10 years????

When my daughter was little she was alergic to red food dye. When she ate anything red her face would turn bright red and she would get sick. At about 5 she seemed to have out grown it and I hadn't really thought much of it in the last 10 years. Last week I noticed her face was really red and then she got sick. I said to her it reminded me of when she was little and asked her what she had eaten. Well she went through her day and when she told me a friend of hers had bought her to boxes of candy I said hhmmm wonder if it is because of the red candy. Well yesterday afternoon I looked at her and her face was bright red again. This time I knew she had eaten red candy because she had eaten it at home. She got sick and I said ok I am not sure why it has come back but you need to stay away from anything with red dye in it. Have you heard of an alergic reaction coming back after 10 years? It just seems really odd to me.
