sledging is the practice in cricket of insulting opponents to break their concentration and cause them to make mistakes. nowadays, it is being widely used in international cricket.
it is australians who started this trend in international cricket and they were using it successfully till recent. but now, other teams started slowly to sledge against them. sreesanth is an example of this.
seems the strategy is working out. what do you feel? sledging should be banned or is it okay to sledge?

ok, thank you for posting your comments, but can you be more elaborative as why are you against it? for example it spoils the sportsman spirit, or anything like that? it would be much better for others to get to know your viewpoint.

Sledging has always been a part of cricket. It always will because cricket is a test of will and mental toughness as well as physical game. The key thing is to set boundaries and to make sure it all forgiven and forgotten off the field. Sledging can go too far - I don't think really personal abuse should be part of it. Good sledging is about undermining the other person's confidence in their game. It is best when backed up by actions.
Fred Truman was a classic sledger. He used to walk with opposing batsmen as they came out to bat saying things like. "Look at that gate, lad. You'll be seeing it again in two minutes." It was about saying "I'm better than you." That competitive element is at the heart of sport.

well i think it is a part of the game and with more improvement in the quality and competition, it is obvious. it is a good thing also sometimes when done within the limit. but if you get too much personal then it is creating problems
and i still remember when a spinner said something to sunil gavaskar after he missed two good balls by him. the bowler said it is a round reddish thing that you cannot see. sunil gavaskar said nothing, in reply he stepped out and hit him over the fence and showed him the way.

I dont think that sledging worked for India. Shreesanth unncessarily involved hilself in sledging agains Australia during the Twenty Twenty world cup. His performance in the tournament was not very good. then Harbhajan got involved in sledging during the tour down under and as a result he performed very badly during the whole series. This proves that sledging did more harm than help tothe players. Players like Sachin, Dravid and Kumble perform very well and they dont need tospeak a word to win match instead they show their aggression in their game.

got it, but anyways, at last india won the series. right? even i think sreesanth is a bit over excited about sledging :)
when they are doing it with india, why cant indians do that to them?

yes it sometimes become necessary to give it back but it sledging should not be used as a strategy as cricket is a gentleman's game and dignity of the game should be maintained. Australians do sledging to distract other players and i think that by trying to get back at them we sometimes loose our focus
