They have Silver Swan Soy Sauce (Ang paborito ng Bayan). They also have most of my favorites from Thailand and the Philippines like Lucky Me pancit canton, Tom Yum Noodles, Cream Silk, Thai Jasmin Brown Rice, Mama Sita's among others. Actually, it's now called "Asian Shop" and they have products from Thailand, India and China. The shop is operated by a nice Filipina lady and it's just close to where I live. I'm just so excited about this discovery and I can't contain my happiness I have to share it.

Merci! Yea, I'm just so excited now I can cook for my amore. He used to always do the cooking because I'm not familiar with Italian food. But now I can make Filipino foods which I'm glad to say he also loves.

I would definitely feel the same if I was in your shoes being in a foreign country. Nothing could make it more like home if we could also get to get those items there and eat food that would taste just right as if we are eating them right at home in the philippines. Most filipinos miss a lot of the food when they go abroad and its the first thing that they ask whenever they are about to go home. We just have to make sure that their favorite food are ready when they come home. Its the best homecoming that we could give. As for the Asian store, nothing beats an enterprising filipina. LOL! I definitely laud her because she is bringing a piece of home to a lot of filipinos out there and somehow ease some of the homesickness with all the goodies that she have in her store.

Thanks CD, I was actually happy that I got the chance to stay in the Philippines for at least 3 months before coming here. I had so much fun eating and feasting on our favorite foods like pinaksiw na galunggong, fried fish dipped in soy sauce with calamansi. Well, I'm so glad they got Datu Puti Soy Sauce with Kalamansi and the famous silver swan. That's all I actually need to at least feel at home here. The Filipina who tends the shop is very nice and kind.

I'm happy you found some of your favorites. I'm always excited too, when I can find some great specialty food that was not previously available. I'm not familiar with Philipino foods, but I love Thai, Chinese, and Japanese. Sometimes I have a hard time finding my favorite sesame oil or hoisin sauce, and there are few Thai products here. When I go shopping in a large city where there's a good chance they'll have those things, I'll stock up on them so they'll last for a while.

If you were near I would share with you some of my favorite Filipino dishes which actually are not originally from the Philippines but somehow become popular only in the Philippines. Example we got our own Filipino style fried noodles that is similar to Thai and Chinese. I love Thai foods too as I lived there for more than six years before coming to England just recently.

Yea, I should give her a medal for setting up the shop or a plaque of appreciation for her "concern" on her fellow Filipinos and Asians in general.

Kabaleyan, I am glad you're getting used to your surroundings. It's really nice to know that in a foreign place you'll find some stuffs that you are accustomed to use in the country where you came from. I don't know but know but it's such a great feeling to get acquainted to something you've known before -just like friends, right? Keep exploring.

Yea, I have to because this is going to be my home for now. I have just gone back there today to buy some Guyabano Nectar. You're right, it's always thrilling to find something we had been accustomed with. It kinda bring back the some nice memories from home.

Yes, Grecy, I'm out of the Philippines again. I just stayed home for at least 3 months and enjoyed halo-halo and tondan then left for UK again. But this time I'm going to settle here as my future hubby is located here in Norwich. It was such a big surprise and treat for me to find a Pilipino shop with my favorite Silver Swan Soy Sauce! Yumm!!
