What do you think?

I'm about 22 weeks pregnant and have already gained 40 lbs. My doctor hasn't said anything negative about my weight gain but I'm very concerned. My eating habits are pretty much the same as they were before i conceived except for the fact that I don't consume soft drinks. One factor might be that I crave milk and on average drink about 18 oz. a day. If somebody can relate, give advice, etc. I'd appreciate it!

Defintely agree with everyone else if your concerned ask the doc but everyone grows differently so this may just be the way it happens for you. Trust your gut ask the doc what he/she thinks, make sure your diet is good and unfortunetly if that's the way your body (for lack of better word) reacts to the pregnancy then you will have to try your best to keep your diet healthy do some exercise and reverse the gain after you have the baby. Best of luck to you.

I would not worry about it. I am currently 29 weeks and I have already gained 37 lbs. My doctor has not told me to lose weight and seems unconcerned with my weight gain.I have read articles in pregnancy magazines that say that you should only gain 25-30 lbs. Yeah right!!

Hmm.. I dunno what to tell you... I heard differently, I heard that about 40 lbs is where a doctor would say that is the max. I think you should relay your fears to your doctor and see what they say. I am sure you are fine though! Congorats on the pregnancy!!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just be sure that what you're eating is QUALITY. Lots of fruits and vegetables, lean meats, milk, etc. Don't give into that whole "eating for two" nonsense. The baby takes what it needs from your body and what you eat. And make sure that you're still exercising. Go for walks, if you can. You can exercise until you're close to your due date and many mothers find it's easier to get back to normal after having the baby. Just stay away from the junk food and you're doing fine.

i definitely wouldn't worry to much about it. a lot of that is the water weight that you gain. it's normal and you will be okay. i gained 42 pounds with my second child and i didn't let it worry me. you are fine, just relax and start to enjoy your pregnancy and don't dwell on how much weight you are gaining. most of it is the fluid where the baby is at and will go away quicker than you think after having the baby. Congrats by the way. i know you have to be excited. God bless

I wouldnt worry about your weight gain, if all tests from the doctors and midwifes are normal there should be nothing to worry about.
I am assuming you are carrying on 1 baby, if it were a multiple pregnancy then you would obviously carry more weight but at this stage with ultrasounds you would have known how many feotuses there were.
You have to remember there is not just baby in there but also around 4 pints of amniotic fluid and placenta too. So dont worry and enjoy the chance to crave what you like :)

Everyone's weight gain is different during pregnancy. Trust your doctor, and if you're concerned about it mention it to them next time you go for a prenatal. I have a cousin who gained a lot right away then slowed down. I'm sure its fine tho!

No I really wouldnt worry, your doctor would have said if you were putting on too much weight. I put on a lot and I had a huge bump by the time I was 19 weeks that said my daughter was pretty big when she was born 8lb 20z at 38 weeks.
