Why won't my boyfriend buy me what I ask for??

It's my birthday in a few weeks and my boyfriend keeps asking me what I want. I have told him a few things but he always says no!
I said I wanted the new Tickle Me Elmo, but he said that was for kids. Then I said he could get me a new magazine subscription...but he said that was too boring.
I've given up and decided he can figure it out himself!
Does your partner/friend do this? Why do they bother asking? lol

my husband does that to me too. Just buy it yourself. I just go to the store and buy whatever it is I am wanting and tell hubby hey look what you bought me for my birthday.

maybe he's just pretending not to want to get you those things...he may end up surprising you with it...but i may have just ruined the surprise by telling you he may surprise you...so act surprised when he gets you the elmo...

All men are like that.They'll buy you what you want only if they think you need it.Just smile and except it..then go buy what you really want.If you're lucky after a couple times he'll get the idea and buy you what you asked for since you're gonna get it anyway.

Another reason he probably won't get the new Tickle Me Elmo is because they are out of stock. From the day it aired on that one show, they ran out. People have gone to jail fighting for one, someone paid $500 on Ebay for one, it's just insane. I want one too, but I'll wait until they are available again.

He seems to be trying to get a list of things you like so when he chooses it won't be the wrong thing. He does now want to be in the doghouse when that day arrives

TEll him jewelry gift certificate or something. Maybe he's looking for a specific answer or something. Maybe he has already bought you something and wants see if it is something that you want.
